John Cena is one of the biggest global stars. His claim to stardom came during full-time professional wrestling days. He had kicked of his career as a bodybuilder, before he made the jump to professional wrestling. Cena was signed by WWE (then known as WWF) in 2001.

With his “Doctor of Thuganomics” gimmick, Cena won the fans all over. The trash-talking rapper did wonders for his career. Soon the company decided to push him as the face of the company – and did so for nearly a decade. But Cena was given a new perfect, Superman-like gimmick as the Leader of Cenation.

John Cena went on to become a 16-time Champion. But he decided to switch careers and moved to Hollywood. 2021 was a massive year for him, where he featured in two massive franchisee movies – The Suicide Squad and Fast & Furious 9. With The Suicide Squad, Cena got the chance to enter the world of Superheroes – playing the role of Peacemaker.

His character from The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, was immensely loved by the fans. It got such rave reviews that the studio immediately greenlit his own TV series – which in fact is the first in the DC Extended Universe. But John Cena recently revealed on Podly: The Peacemaker Podcast that he never thought he would get to play the character again.

We saw a little bit of debut of a man who will keep peace at any cost in The Suicide Squad and I guess James Gunn thought that there was a story to be told around that ethos, and around the character. And, I thought The Suicide Squad would be the last time we saw Peacemaker, but here he is back in Peacemaker the series,” mentioned the Leader of Cenation.

John Cena was criticized for his recent tweet

While we have seen John Cena playing a perfect character on WWE and his films, innumerable times, he isn’t so perfect after all in real life. The Leader of Cenation came under severe criticism recently for using the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a way to promote his show!

“If I could somehow summon the powers of a real life Peacemaker I think this would be a great time to do so” – tweeted the 16-time World Champion. Clearly the tweet wasn’t interpreted in the way that it was meant to be. But Cena too seems unscathed by the backlash – as the tweet is still available on his feed.
