“Scariest night of my career”: Kofi Kingston reacts to Big E’s horrific injury
E and Kingston
Big E and Kofi Kingston are two-thirds of one of the greatest professional wrestling tag teams in the history of WWE. Along with Xavier Woods, they are a part of The New Day. They are 11-time Tag Team Champions and have held the Smackdown Tag Team Championship for a record seven times. In addition to this, they also hold the record for the longest reign as the Tag Team Champions, with a reign of 483 days.
But in the last couple of years, they all the members have gotten the opportunity to get a singles push. The first one to get it was Kofi Kingston, but the best one was easily of Big E. He was separated from The New Day in the WWE Draft – and went on to win the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2021.
But his first WWE Championship came to an abrupt end at Day 1 when Brock Lesnar pinned him in the Fatal 5-Way match. Since then, he and Kingston were again seen in action as Tag Team partners. On a recent episode of Smackdown, E was dropped on his head on during a botched move by Ridge Holland.
Big E had suffered fracture in his spine. Easily it was one of the scariest moments any sportsperson could ever experience in their career. Kofi Kingston was right there when the horrific accident took place. In a recent interview with Hot 97, he revealed his reaction when his Tag Team partner was part of the botch.
“It was easily the scariest night of my career…I was like, what’s going on all sudden, the paramedics and everything start coming out. It was just really really scary because it’s a reminder of how quickly things can take a turn for the worst. Every move that we execute, there’s always an element of danger to it and luckily, for the most part, we come out unscathed, but in those moments — literally looking at my brother in the face as the paramedics are putting the neck braces and everything on there, putting him on the stretcher, you know, it was very scary,” Kingston said.
Big E is in good spirits
Former WWE Champion Big E is at his home, and is in recovery. Thankfully, as he mentioned, he did not had to undergo a surgery. E continues to provide constant updates to his fans through Twitter. He had even posted a video of himself, walking around on the streets, which is quite encouraging.
“Got breath in my lungs, it’s a beautiful day, got my taco meat my chest hair out. So that’s what’s going on in my life. My neck might be broken, but my heart, it’s still in there,” he mentioned. You can checkout the full video above.
