Lana is a familiar name to WWE fans. She was an active part of the roster in the mid-2010s as a manager and a female wrestler. Although her in-ring work isn’t much to go by as she didn’t hold any titles in the company, her role as a manager is something every fan knows her for.
Lana first made her WWE debut in 2013 as a scout for her then-boyfriend, Rusev. She quickly established herself as a prominent figure in the company, known for her stunning looks and charismatic personality. Her on-screen character was that of a confident woman with a strong Russian accent. This character was much loved by the fans.
Born on March 24, 1985, Catherine Joy Perry took the mantle of Lana as she stepped foot in the wrestling world. Although she was introduced to the fans as a native of Russia, the former WWE superstar was originally born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. Perry married her boyfriend, Miroslav Barnyashev, known to the WWE Universe as Rusev, in 2016.
Throughout her tenure with WWE, Lana has played a key role in several storylines, often serving as a manager for her husband Rusev and also as a wrestler in her own right. She has been involved in many high-profile feuds and storylines, including a feud with Dolph Ziggler and a rivalry with Becky Lynch. Lana was fired by WWE in 2021, one year after her husband was fired.

Does WWE own the name “Lana”?
WWE usually owns the names, gimmicks, and any other intellectual property associated with the talent. This is why when Rusev made his debut in AEW, he went by a different name, “Miro.” However, it might come as a surprise to the fans that Perry is free to use Lana wherever and whenever she likes, unlike other former WWE superstars. She revealed how the name is such a common one that WWE can’t own it.
As reported by Fightful, Perry was talking about her potential names at a virtual signing organized by East Coast Autograph Auctions. While talking about her former name as well, Perry said, “I own that. Owning ‘Lana’ is like owning the name ‘Mike.’ You can’t. In my contract, they own Rusev because it’s so specific, but they don’t own Lana because you can’t… I would rather come out as Lana because, at the end of the day, I would rather just not come out with my real name.”
In addition to her work in WWE, Lana has also made appearances in several films and television shows. These include the films Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2, and the reality shows Total Divas and Total Bellas. She has also been involved in various non-wrestling roles in WWE, such as being a commentator and a host for various shows. Overall, Lana is a talented and versatile performer who has made a significant impact in the world of professional wrestling and entertainment. Fans are always looking forward to seeing what the future holds for her.
