Asuka’s record in WWE Money in the Bank ladder matches

WWE Money in the Bank is just a couple of days away and the card is packed, with a major part of the roster scheduled to appear on the pay-per-view. The event will be featuring two ladder matches for the Money in the Bank briefcases – one each for men and women.
While this has been the norm for several years, WWE took a unique route last year at WWE Money in the Bank 2020. Both the men’s and women’s ladder matches took place simultaneously, and that too in the WWE Headquarters.
The match began from the ground floor of the WWE HQ and wrestlers had to race their way to the top of the building, where the briefcase was hanging. The Women’s ladder match was won by Asuka. Surprisingly, it was Asuka’s first ever Money in the Bank ladder match and she managed to win – creating a 100% success record.
Asuka has won the WWE Money in the Bank briefcase once
Asuka had defeated Carmella, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the win. But the 100% success record wasn’t the only unique aspect about Asuka’s win. She also won the Raw Women’s Championship, without cashing-in her contract.
During the Raw, the night after Money in the Bank 2020, Becky Lynch announced her pregnancy, thereby relinquishing her title. With Asuka holding the contract, she was chosen as the Champion. She managed to keep the title till Wrestlemania 37, before losing it to Rhea Ripley.
This year Asuka will be making her second appearance at Money in the Bank ladder match, where she faces – Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Zelina Vega, Liv Morgan and Natalya. WWE Money in the Bank airs live on 18th July, 2021.
