10 wrestlers who could make a surprise return at WWE Royal Rumble 2024

One of the greatest PLE gimmicks in sports entertainment is the Royal Rumble match, defining the PLE with the same moniker. With Royal Rumble 2024 just around the corner, wrestling fans have once again resumed the exercise of speculating surprise returns.

Especially with the change in the Creative regime under The Game, Triple H, it seems the potential for delivering has upscaled significantly. Unlike the previous head, Vince McMahon, who liked to amuse himself in the strangest ways possible, the former 14-time World Champion likes to deal with PLEs quite seriously.

Moreover, 2024 has already kickstarted with several former WWE talent venturing to other promotions. With the Royal Rumble in sight, the possibility of WWE delivering a reverse UNO Card cannot be denied. Additionally, there also exists a list of good names that have been waiting to run the ropes after heartbreaking injuries.

Without further ado, here are the possible names that the fans might see at the Royal Rumble. Taking into account both the Royal Rumble Matches, the following males and females have deserving backing to show up at the first stage on the road to WrestleMania.

10. Naomi

The wrestling community has been abuzz with speculations that the former SmackDown Women’s Champion was inbound for WWE. She recently wrestled her seemingly final match in TNA against Jordynne Grace, where the latter picked up the win and became the new TNA Knockouts World Champion.

With a reign lasting more than 180 days, Naomi, aka Trinity, has already proved her worth as a singles star. With new fire underneath her belly, fans can expect her to bring a different glow to the upcoming Women’s Royal Rumble Match.

9. Braun Strowman

Before getting injured in May 2023, Brawn Strowman was widely featured in tag team showdowns alongside Ricochet. While the nature of his injury was severe, a positive neck fusion surgery and well-carried-out rehab training have made the Monster of All Monsters, excited to post his comeback journey on social media.

Strowman is someone who has an impressive Royal Rumble record. He was not only the runner-up in the 2019 Royal Rumble but, he was even able to triumph in the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018. Being someone among those with the most eliminations in a match, Strowman feels at home in such an exciting format.

8. Jade Cargill

It has been six months since Jade Cargill was signed by WWE. She has yet to wrestle her first match. With the support of the higher-ups and getting trained by the best, Royal Rumble could be a fine occasion to display her prowess.

Rumble and its chaos can easily hide the blemishes from one’s performance. Hence, even if Jade shows some need to improve, the match could be a fine way to identify her highs and lows. Even if her performance doesn’t get followed by a debut on the main roster, a Royal Rumble performance could act as a good repository for her wrestling record.

7. Sheamus

The Great White, Sheamus, is one of the most seasoned veterans in the WWE. His injury hindered his presence on the main roster in the last few months of his current contract. If he doesn’t wish, to renew his contract, a Royal Rumble appearance could prove to be the perfect way to set up his farewell.

While his chances to reenact his 2012 victory are sparse, one can look forward to another banger where he is seen outclassing younger talent. Moreover, he could even start a new rivalry on his road to WrestleMania.

Trish Stratus resurrected her career with one of the most memorable runs delivered on the main roster. Her match with the Man, Becky Lynch went on to become one of the best matches of 2023. Despite a few Royal Rumble appearances under her belt, it will not hurt her to add another one.

Stratus has also expressed her desire to add another chapter to her career before she closes the book. While one can expect her to collide with some familiar faces, a new rivalry could also be around the corner.

5. Andrade El Idolo/Cien Almas

Andrade is one of the most talented Latino stars at this point. He recently announced on ‘X’ regarding his departure from AEW. Since then, countless speculations have surfaced that have indicated his involvement with WWE.

With so many stars venturing to different promotions, Andrade could serve as the starter for a new trend. With a recent Tweet by Zelina Vega, there exists a high possibility that fans might see the 34-year-old once again in WWE.

4. Liv Morgan

It has been a while since fans witnessed some captivating action from Liv Morgan. Despite being away from in-ring action, the 29-year-old has been on numerous adventures from a sexy vacation to even getting her first mugshot.

Despite the notoriety, the Stamford-based company looks high on the former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion. Making a comeback at this Royal Rumble is something that couldn’t be ruled out of the cards.

3. X-Pac

Lately, WWE Royal Rumble has seen several Hall of Famers return to in-ring action. It has been a while since Sean Waltman has been in an active wrestling role despite his numerous appearances alongside the DX in WWE.

Though Waltman denied rumors of his return, one cannot rule out the possibility of him trying to make it a surprise. With a legend like him gracing the ring, his showdown with the cruiserweights of today could set up a mouthwatering treat for the fans.

2. Sasha Banks

Despite several reports claiming the breaking away of her talks with WWE, Sasha Banks has been active in teasing her return online. Her former Costars have also been partners-in-crime. Hence, it would be a mistake to rule out such a big name from the game.

With the likes of Jade Cargill possibly debuting in the match, one can expect a massive pop if they engage in a staredown, as seen in the past. Making her return possible would be another victory for WWE against other promotions.

1. Brock Lesnar

One can never count out a Brock Lesnar return, especially with the Road to WrestleMania in sight. The Beast adds tremendous star power to whichever venture he enters. Adding him to Royal Rumble will not only raise the stakes but could even pave the way for Lesnar’s next rivalry.

It might be the same formula that WWE followed with Bobby Lashley, however, the outcome might be different. With the Beast inside the Royal Rumble, fans would jump to their feat on how the others tackle such a massive force.
