Monday Night Raw has been one of the two flagship shows of WWE programming for the last 30 years. Launched in 1993, WWE Raw premiered on the USA Network until TNN purchased the media rights four years later. Regardless, the USA Network has predominantly been the show’s home network. With the Raw deal with the said network nearing its expiration, the company is looking for potential bidders.
According to WrestleWorld on X, Warner Bros. and Disney are currently among the top bidders for the red brand’s media rights. Another $1.4 trillion conglomerate name has recently joined the list of potential buyers for Raw’s TV agreement. The company in question is Amazon. Nevertheless, the details regarding the actual worth of the deal remain undisclosed.
The belief is that the Stamford-based promotion will likely ink an agreement by the turn of this year. The announcement will likley take place in January 2024. With SmackDown heading to the USA Network and NXT moving to The CW, the red brand will most probably find a new home channel soon enough.
If the company indeed secures a deal with Warner Bros., who are by far the leading contenders to acquire the deal, then WWE’s rival company, AEW, may have to find a new broadcaster for their shows. At present, AEW’s flagship shows, Dynamite and Collision, air on the Warner Bros. Network. Moreover, the network’s deal with the Jacksonville-based promotion runs out in late October.
Latest reports indicate WWE Raw’s new broadcast channel deal could amass unfathomable profits for the company
USA Network has remained the home channel for Monday Night Raw for the best part of its time. Raw has been a part of the USA Network for the last 11 years or so. Given that SmackDown is moving to the same network, the red brand is finally on the lookout for new parties to obtain a TV rights deal. Having said that, a recent report suggests that WWE’s brand-new media rights could fetch significant profits for the company.
WWE has yet to reach an agreement with any of the potential bidders for its broadcast deal. However, it is supposedly an unprecedented deal. According to WOR via Ringside News, the stock experts have provided their perspicuous insight into the impending television rights deal. They have estimated that the deal is likely valued at a whopping $387 million. It is a massive jump from Raw’s previous media rights cost, which stood at $265 million.
However, the initially projected amount was approximately $398 million. Although the current estimation is slightly less than the original projection, it is nevertheless still bound to bring tremendous profits to WWE. The Stamford-based promotion has been soaring in terms of business profit in 2023. Such a hike in broadcast deals would accrue even more financial success for the company.
