Coming from a highly successful 2023, WWE has peaked themselves in 2024 right from the very start. Three months into 2024, and WWE is already breaking records on a weekly basis. A part of this feat traces back to the global audience catering to their shows in the hottest era of wrestling. As a thank-you gesture from WWE, they are going international for their PLEs and have announced a Scottish show now.
WWE has announced that Clash at the Castle 2024 will emanate from the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. On June 15, 2024, the indoor arena will host the PLE in front of a loud crowd in Scotland for the first time ever. The 13K-capacity arena will draw one of the loudest crowds in Glasgow to date.
Similar to Backlash and Money in the Bank in 2023, WWE continued the tradition for their international arena shows. OVO Hydro will also host the Friday Night SmackDown taping on June 14, a night prior to Clash at the Castle. This might very well be a slight demotion from the last time WWE hosted Clash at the Castle 2022 in front of a 60K crowd at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
We are excited to bring both Friday Night SmackDown and Clash At The Castle: Scotland to our amazing fans in Scotland at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow this June.WWE President Nick Khan statement on Clash at the Castle 2024
The poster for Clash at the Castle 2024 shows Cody Rhodes in the front with Jey Uso, Bianca Belair, and Jade Cargill. On the right side, though, a graphic of Drew McIntyre with his separate space and a sword in his hand is due to his Scottish roots. It will most likely be The Scottish Warrior’s event, seeing him one way or another walk out as the World Heavyweight Champion.
WWE PLEs lined up before and after Clash at the Castle
As of writing, WrestleMania 40 is around the corner, as the thrilling week has begun. With the go-home episode of Raw, WWE has clarified their match schedule for both nights, happening on April 6, Saturday, and April 7, Sunday. However, the plans for the upcoming months have also been announced.
On May 4, 2024, WWE is heading to France with their traditional post-Mania show, Backlash. This will be the first time France will host a WWE PLE. The LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu, Lyon Metropolis, will be host to both nights of WWE action in France, with SmackDown on Friday and Backlash 2024 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, on July 6, 2024, WWE is heading to Canada for their annual Money in the Bank PLE. This marks the first time MITB will be hosted in Toronto and the second consecutive time it has been done outside the US. The Scotiabank Arena would experience three nights of WWE action by hosting SmackDown on July 5, Friday, Money in the Bank 2024 on July 6, Saturday, and NXT Heatwave on July 7, Sunday.
