WWE’s special arrangements to allow The Rock to drop profane promos on live TV revealed
The Rock has set the world of WWE alight with his eye-catching yet controversial promos.

The Rock is back in WWE, and that too with a heel approach. He has brought back the long-lost audience that enjoyed his presence in the Attitude Era, along with the same kind of profanity. The Great One’s promos consist of F-words for all the possible insults he could offer to his rival. A recent report has provided a backstage update on how the promos go to the FOX network to make them aware.
Dave Meltzer of WOR has reported that the system for bleeps occurring on television is ordered by FOX. He starts with the process of FOX getting Rock’s script ahead of the episode. This goes to show how everyone is aware of the incoming abuses, yet they allow them to happen for the sake of a star’s persona.
If it was anyone else, they would not have allowed such non-PG promos, but the brand name of The Rock acts as an exception. The People’s Champion can say whatever he wants while the filtration of what to show lies in FOX’s hands. The censoring of certain words is also done so that they don’t miss anything.
If it was anyone else, they would just be not allowed to say it, but with The Rock, it's like, he can say whatever he wants, but they know what he's gonna say and when he's gonna say it, so anything they wanna bleep out, they will bleep out. And they know when to bleep it out because they're told ahead of time.Dave Meltzer on The Rock’s profane promos
On SmackDown, Hollywood Rock has crossed all boundaries to glorify his gimmick. Starting with the troll of Cody Rhodes and his fans, Cody crybabies, he has elevated the disparage to his mother. Last week, The Rock’s concert brought down all those topics and made fun of the Rhodes family along with Seth Rollins. Keeping aside the PG approach of WWE for their promos, Hollywood Rock has proven extremely entertaining so far.
WWE former writer Brian Gewirtz comments on The Rock concert segment
Brian Gewirtz used to work as the creative head at WWE, providing immaculate writing. However, he now works with The Rock and has written for his shows, among other things. The duo has now landed back in the Stamford-based company and provides the WWE Universe with earth-shattering promos.
Gewirtz was also responsible for writing the iconic Rock concert segment last week on SmackDown. However, as a writer and a loyal go-to guy for The Great One, he has shut down the surrounding rumors. Brian took to X to state that the segment neither went overtime nor did it hamper the rest of the show.
The segment went 30 seconds under its allotted 20 minutes.Brian Gewirtz about ‘Rock concert’ segment
Cultaholic Wrestling’s post and a report about the segment overrun were worth clarifying for Gewirtz. He responded, stating that the segment was actually scheduled for a total of 20 minutes. However, it ended early, with an extra 30 seconds remaining in WWE’s hands.
