Asuka has been the center of controversy in the past couple of days. Following her defeat at SummerSlam against Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair, she took to X to talk about her experience wrestling in Japan. The Empress of Tomorrow talked about how the media and Stardom Wrestling tried to sabotage her career years before she was a household name among WWE fans.

Recently, Asuka posted a cryptic tweet where she wrote, “I have betrayed all who believe in me. I have lent out my fashion belt. I don’t have my fashion items because they were not returned. Yes, I have sinned. That’s what troubles me: I would like to suffer more for the expiation of my sins. Ah, if I were not Empress, I should lose my temper.”

Asuka’s ambiguous tweet has been the subject of discussion among fans. She mentioned betrayal and losing her belt, which might be an implicit reference to something. While some fans believe it’s just a random post, others are relating it to Stardom. In her previous tweets, Asuka revealed that the media companies in Japan had always tried to badmouth her.

Asuka said that they wanted to put her in a bad light because she refused to play by their rules. The 41-year-old said that Stardom Wrestling Promotion was created to compete against her popularity. The former women’s champion also said that she stopped following what the company was doing after she left Japan and moved to the US.

Asuka moved to the US a few years ago and made her name as one of the best wrestlers on the NXT roster. She is also considered to be one of the best NXT women’s champions in the brand’s history. The 41-year-old continued her dominant run on the main roster as she became the first person to win the Women’s Royal Rumble in 2018. She also became the Grand Slam Champion in WWE, winning all the titles on the main roster.

The Empress of Tomorrow is arguably one of the greatest female wrestlers in WWE history. She has done almost everything there is to achieve in WWE and has had a Hall of Fame-worthy career. Even before joining WWE, Asuka was a well-respected name in Japanese wrestling as Kana. She won numerous championships in independent promotions in Japan and the US before 2015.

Asuka made her debut on NXT in 2015 and soon became one of the top stars on the brand. She had highly acclaimed feuds with Bayley, Ember Moon, Nikki Cross, and many others. In late 2017, Asuka made her main roster debut on RAW, starting her iconic winning streak, which lasted 914 days. The streak was broken by Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34, when the two faced off for the Women’s Championship after Asuka won the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble.

The 41-year-old won the SmackDown Women’s Championship once and tag team titles three times. She also won the MITB contract in 2020, and the Women’s Championship three times, becoming the third-ever Triple Crown Champion. Moreover, the Empress of Tomorrow won the tag team titles with Kairi Sane, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss during her time on the main roster.
