REVEALED: Backup plan for Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 38

Reigns and Lesnar

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar delivered a battle in the main event of Wrestlemania 38. If the statures of these two behemoths wasn’t enough – WWE added not one, but two top titles into the mix. While the Tribal Chief walked in with the Universal Title, the Beast Incarnate walked in with the WWE Championship.

The Greatest Wrestlemania Match of All Time was in the planning since the feud between the two Superstars kicked off at Summerslam. The plan always was to have a three-match feud between them – with the final match taking place at the Showcase of Immortals.

While the first bout took place at Crown Jewel – with Roman Reigns picking up the win, the second planned match never took place. The second bout was planned for Day 1, but hours before the event, the Universal Champion contracted Covid and had to be taken off the card.

Considering how the second bout was called off, the possibility of the third bout facing a similar roadblock would be running in the back of the minds. Hence, as per latest reports from the Ringside News – WWE had a contingency plan in place, in case either Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns got injured or contracted Covid in the build up to the match.

“If Brock or Roman got hurt or got COVID the week of ‘Mania, they could plug in Cena into the main event on very short notice. Cena is always available in case of emergency” – mentioned the report.

The Bloodline

After scoring a big win in the main event of Wrestlemania 38, Roman Reigns is now the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Now that he holds two top Championships, he is bound to appear on both the main roster brands. But there is not much left for him to conquer.

Hence, the Tribal Chief has now decided to focus on the success of The Bloodline. He has demanded his cousins, The Usos, to unify the WWE Tag Team Titles. They currently hold the Smackdown Tag Team Championship and are now after RK-Bro for the Raw titles. They will be colliding at Wrestlemania Backlash.
