December 6, 2004 marked a historic feat in WWE’s records. Two of the iconic female superstars, Trish Stratus and Lita, squared off for the Women’s Championship in the main event of Monday Night Raw. It was the first time that the company’s flagship show played host to close out the episode with women.

As big of an achievement it was for the women’s division and their fans, the match allegedly wasn’t received well backstage. Current AEW Commentator Jim Ross, who served WWE for many years, recently came up with a shocking revelation. On his Grilling JR podcast, the 71-year-old revealed the following.

According to him, several anonymous talents were genuinely “pi**ed off” after learning about the women’s main event. In fact, one of them even yelled – “What the hell is going on here?” Apparently, there was a fuming atmosphere in the back. At that juncture, women even had to fight for their rights to perform on television. At least today, the situation has improved drastically, and women get significant representation.

Despite the backstage politics, Stratus and Lita tore the house down. In a match that changed women’s wrestling forever, those trailblazers gave it their all. After struggling for just under 10 minutes, Lita defeated Stratus to become the new WWE Women’s Champion. The arena just erupted after the Extreme Diva tasted gold.

In an anachronistic scenario, Trish Stratus and Lita wrestled alongside each other in 2023. A sight that seems impossible even in the books actually happened at WrestleMania 39. The WWE Hall of Famers joined forces with Becky Lynch to take on the trio of Damage CTRL. At the event, the babyfaces emerged victorious as Lynch pinned Bayley following an Avalanche Manhandle Slam.

Two weeks later on Raw, Trish betrayed Becky after they lost the women’s tag titles. It was later discovered that Stratus had devised a foolproof plan to deprive The Man of her hard-fought gold. Also, the Toronto-born legend attacked her best friend Lita in a backstage segment, which Stratus later revealed.

Following that, WWE took Lita off television. However, since then, Becky Lynch & Trish Stratus have been engaged in a gruesome affair. To assure someone has her back, Stratus took Raw upstart Zoey Stark under her tutelage. This week on Raw, Lynch finally faces Stark in a singles match. Also, The Man is expected to wrestle Trish Stratus at SummerSlam.
