The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns has defended his Undisputed WWE Universal title only once since WrestleMania 39. It happened at last month’s SummerSlam against Jey Uso. The fact that he has completely transitioned into a special attraction for WWE who shows up once in a blue moon might be the reason why fans are rallying against him. Until a point, Reigns was at least defending his gold every month.
However, he might’ve never encountered a flamboyant athlete quite like Bad Bunny just yet. The Puerto Rican rapper has already proved that he’s arguably the best celebrity wrestler on the planet. During an interview with Vanity Fair, the $88 million rapper jokingly revealed that he’s planning to dethrone Roman Reigns. Although it’s not going to happen realistically, Bunny could have a great match against The Bloodline’s leader. “My plan is to take the title from Roman Reigns,” said Bunny.
WWE seemingly has long-term plans for Roman Reigns. He’s not going to even consider dropping the title until WrestleMania 40, if not forever. The promotion has virtually locked in Reigns’ marquee showdown for the 40th anniversary of The Showcase of the Immortals. Nonetheless, his opponent would be no one else but Cody Rhodes.
After his WrestleMania 39 defeat, Cody swiftly aimed to reclaim relevance against Roman. Despite plans for Reigns vs. Rhodes II in Philadelphia next year, The Tribal Chief’s victory isn’t assured.
WWE is seemingly updating its record books. And for that, they need to create new records with the current crop of superstars. Just like Gunther recently became the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in history, Roman Reigns is steadily heading toward more glory.

Could Roman Reigns vs. Bad Bunny happen this year?
WWE is reportedly traveling back for yet another show in Saudi Arabia in November. As has been the case, these money-printing events are renowned for having big-time matches on the card. Nonetheless, it might be the place where Bad Bunny takes on Roman Reigns. However, everything depends on Bunny’s ridiculously packed schedule.
However, if he wants to do it, there would not be a figure in WWE’s upper management who could think otherwise. No matter if the result is already predictable, it will be a major attraction for many. Moreover, after finally merging with the UFC under the TKO holdings, WWE might be looking to go as mainstream as possible.
Arguably, Bad Bunny is the hottest musical sensation in Latin America at the moment. Just imagine the hype he could bring while stepping up to Roman Reigns. There’s no certainty as of now whether the promotion is even considering this showdown to happen this early.
