“It is hard to stay Champion”: When Becky Lynch wanted to lose the Raw Women’s title

Raw Women's Champion

Becky Lynch is one of the biggest Superstars on the WWE roster today. The former Raw Women’s Championship, “Big Time Becks” had held a major WWE title, for every single day that she has been active since Wrestlemania 35. In between her tenure, Lynch had taken a maternity break for several months, but apart from that, she has been a Champion.

Big Time Becks main-evented Wrestlemania 35, along with Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair, in a Triple Threat Winner Takes All match. Rousey had walked in as the Champion from the Red brand, whereas Flair walked in holding the Blue brand’s title. Lynch pinned Rousey to become a Double Champion. While Becky Lynch lost the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship to Flair at Money in the Bank 2019, she held on to the Raw Women’s title till Money in the Bank 2020, post which she relinquished it due to her maternity break. She returned at Summerslam 2021 and pinned Bianca Belair in 26 seconds to become a Champion once again!

Becky Lynch had once revealed that she wanted to lose the Raw Women’s Championship

The former Raw Women’s Champion recently appeared on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Session, where she revealed that she wanted to drop her title at Wrestlemania 36, and had even pitched the same. Becky Lynch reasoned that being a babyface was one of the main reasons for wanting to lose the title.

“It’s hard as a babyface to stay champion that long. I had actually pitched to lose at WrestleMania 36 because it is hard to stay champion for that long and as a babyface I think I’m pretty good in the chase,” mentioned Lynch. In fact, she not only retained the title at Wrestlemania 36, Lynch went on to hold the title for a total of 398 days.
