For Brock Lesnar, SummerSlam didn’t go as he’d have liked. In his rubber match against Cody Rhodes, The Beast failed to put away The American Nightmare. In what turned out to be the best match of their perplexing trilogy, Lesnar was grounded after eating a trifecta of Cross Rhodes. That said, Cody can now focus on what has been his prime goal since returning to WWE. However, the same can’t be said about Brock Lesnar.
Everyone is wondering what the future holds for The Conquerer. Well, it appears like Lesnar is primed for a brief hiatus. Per Wrestling Observer, the 10-time World Champion is currently advertised for the Fastlane premium live event in October. That means Brock might have a month off before getting back for his potential match at the PLE in Indianapolis.
Brock Lesnar has competed in seven matches this year. And, per the reports, he’s scheduled for more. At this point in his career, not much is left for him to accomplish. However, he’d definitely love to share the ring with a few before officially hanging up his boots. One of the biggest allurements The Beast could have is the reigning Intercontinental Champion Gunther.
The Ring General has openly expressed his desire to wrestle Brock Lesnar. Moreover, WWE had plans to card them in a high-profile showdown at this year’s WrestleMania. However, they got scrapped well in time. It would be safe to say that the Imperium leader could be the perfect hasta la vista for The Beast Incarnate. There’s no word on the number of matches left on Brock’s existing contract. That said, he’s in the final stages of his illustrious career.
Brock Lesnar showing Cody Rhodes respect at SummerSlam was unscripted
SummerSlam 2023 is now etched in history books. It was a spectacle with numerous feel-good moments. However, one of the most shocking ones came when Brock Lesnar offered a handshake to Cody Rhodes. After their grueling showdown, which Cody won, Lesnar removed his gloves and butted heads with his opponent. After that, The Beast shook Rhodes’ hand and hugged him.
Moreover, Lesnar endorsed Cody, raising his fist to every part of the stadium. The jam-packed Ford Field cavorted at the sight. For real, it was an extremely rare sight. There aren’t many people who can claim to have earned Lesnar’s respect. But, to add a plot twist, what makes it even more crazy is the fact that it wasn’t planned at all. During the post-show press conference, Triple H spilled the beans.
He said that the Cody/Lesnar post-match shenanigans were a ‘holy sh*t’ moment for him. It wasn’t on the cards, and that itself increases the magnitude of that moment. As spotted by some eagle-eyed fans, Cody Rhodes was too surprised by Lesnar’s gesture towards him. He gave a surprising grin on camera as The Beast left the ring and headed backstage.
