“It was a feeling-out process” Bobby Lashley reveals that he was approached for a bout with the legendary Mike Tyson
Bobby Lashley has wrestled around the world and dominated each promotion he has worked with. Lashley made his WWE debut in 2005, and also won the U.S. Championship before being drafted to the rebranded ECW. He then became ECW Champion twice, becoming the first Afro-American to hold the title. Lashley would then leave the company in 2008 to pursue his MMA career. Lashley would then have a series of successful MMA bouts as he holds a total record of 15-2, fighting for promotions like Strikeforce and Bellator MMA.
He would then join TNA Impact and successfully captured the Impact World Championship four times during his tenure before returning to WWE in 2018. Since his return, he has won The Intercontinental Title and United States Championship twice, he would then go on to win The WWE Championship twice as well. Currently, Lashley is The United States Champion and is all set to face Austin Theory at Summerslam to defend his title.
Bobby Lashley says he was approached to fight Mike Tyson in a bare-knuckle match
In a recent interview, The Dominator revealed that he was once approached to fight Mike Tyson in a bare- knuckle boxing match. According to Fightful Select, Lashley said he was approached by a bare-knuckle promotion for a fight with the legendary Mike Tyson, and that too at one of the most iconic venues of all time i.e. Madison Square Garden.
To which Lashley replied that it was “a feeling-out process” and it would be an honor to face one of the greatest heavyweights to ever step into a boxing ring. Tyson had a sparkling career with a record of 56-4, where he won 44 fights by a knockout. Tyson also remained undefeated in his prime by winning his first 38 bouts before losing to Buster Douglas in 1990.
Though Tyson hasn’t fought a professional fight since 2005, he fought a friendly exhibition match with his old-time friend and boxing marvel Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. The bout ended in a draw but the way Tyson fought showed everyone that the 56 yr old has still got some moves left in him. If the bout between Lashley and Tyson really happens, it would be a stellar encounter as the two greats will fight it out to give a promising bout to the audience and the whole industry.
