“I always thought Cody was just as talented” – Hall of Famer always believed that Cody Rhodes was a main-event player
Booker T recently praised Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes is a second generation superstar who is on a mission to carry forward the Rhodes family legacy to the next level. His father ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes was considering as to be one of the greatest superstars in history to not win the WWE Championship even once in his entire career. Cody had already made it clear that he wants to bestow the World Championship upon his late Hall of Fame father.
Although Cody Rhodes recently suffered a torn pectoral muscle injury on his right shoulder due to which he’s been said to miss months of WWE in-ring action, Rhodes recently appeared on Monday Night Raw last night where he talked about WWE’s upcoming premium live event Money in the Bank. He elaborated the qualities of each superstar involved in the ladder match one by one before finally coming to his arch rival Seth “Freakin” Rollins and said that if Seth takes the win he would be the first one to congratulate him.
Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T discussed a lot of things about Cody Rhodes on his “Hall of Fame” podcast including that he always felt that Cody was on the same level as three former World Champions with the likes of John Cena, Batista and Seth Rollins. He said The American Nightmare was always just as talented as the aforementioned names.
“I wanted to work with Cody Rhodes, I wanted to have my last match in the ring in WWE with Cody,” Booker stated. “… I always thought Cody was at the same level as Seth Rollins, Batista, and all of that other group that came out, John Cena, and all of that. I always thought Cody was just as talented.”
Cody Rhodes is currently having his second run with WWE
Cody Rhodes started his WWE career back in 2007 and during his initial run with the company he was able to achieve some success in the form of 6 Tag- Team Championship reigns and 2 Intercontinental Title reigns.
In May 2016, Rhodes was released from his WWE contract after he requested for it. He spent the next few years of his career in several promotions including TNA, ROH and NJPW in brief stints. His next major step came when he along with Young Bucks and Kenny Omega started a promotion known as All Elite Wrestling (AEW) assuming his role as an EVP of the company and also a wrestler in addition. After spending more than 3 years with AEW, Cody left the company along with his wife Brandi Rhodes.
Cody then made his return to the place he left six years ago in the first place on not the best terms. On April 2 nd, Rhodes returned to WWE at Night 1 of Wrestlemania 38 as a surprise opponent for Seth “Freakin” Rollins. He came out with the exact same gimmick he was going with in AEW as The American Nightmare. Cody Rhodes defeated Seth Rollins in an all-time Wrestlemania classic by paying homage to his late father and putting Rollins through the Cross-Rhodes.
