It has been a lackluster run up until now for Ronda Rousey as the SmackDown Women’s Champion. Ronda Rousey hasn’t really been in the spotlight as the SmackDown Women’s Champion since winning it at Extreme Rules, with her only title defenses coming against Emma and Shotzi up until now.

With her defense against Emma being just one match and her entire feud with Shotzi being a complete failure, it was clear that Rousey would triumph on both occasions. Ronda Rousey’s match against Shotzi at the Survivor Series WarGames was a complete disaster, with the main reason being that the crowd was not interested in the match and many didn’t care about Shotzi getting the title shot.

The crowd was so uninterested in the match that there were “We Want Sasha Banks” chants during the match. To manyIt felt the match had been put in there just to fill up the match card and nothing else. The match is now also being talked about for a botch that occurred when Shotzi attempted a DDT on Ronda Rousey on the apron. Shotzi wanted to deliver a DDT on the apron, but Rousey instead fell on the floor, which resulted in a complete botch.

Booker T has now spoken out about the blunder. During the recent edition of Reality of Wrestling podcast, He stated that the spot reminded him of a match between him and Triple H, where he tried protecting himself from the backdrop by holding the rope very tight.

“I saw the one move that they was showing online where Shotzi went for a DDT up the top rope to the apron, the hard part of the mat, and Ronda [laughs], ‘Let me protect myself on this one.’ I remember Hunter calling a backdrop and I held on to that rope so tight, I don’t do backdrops [laughs].”

Ronda Rousey has been in the WWE for four years and has received critical acclaim for her various performances. Lately, though, after her Survivor Series WarGames match against Shotzi, fans have been reacting to her botched performance at the Survivor Series, with some wanting her to get ousted from the WWE. While there are some who have criticized her wrestling career, there are others who have defended her.

Ric Flair is one of those who have defended Ronda Rousey. Flair addressed the disapproval that Rousey is receiving after the Survivor Series. During the recent edition of the To Be the Man podcast, He stated that he feels Ronda Rousey is fabulous, and he loves her as a wrestler.

Flair said that one should also consider Rousey’s opponent and that one shouldn’t always hold Ronda to the highest standards. Flair believes that it also depends on the opponent, who should be capable of giving their best performance.

I think Ronda is fabulous. Who doesn’t like her again? I have to agree; I like Ronda personally. I think, you know, sometimes the need to look at who she is wrestling against, you know what I mean? You’re not going to get the same match out of Ronda every time. The opponent’s got to be able to carry their weight too.”

We hope that the future is bright for Ronda Rousey, and with Becky Lynch back in the WWE, we expect a rivalry between the two. SmackDown desperately needs some top superstars, or the WWE needs to push the current ones and create a better storyline and feud in order to avoid a lackluster match just like that at Survivor Series.
