On the latest episode of the blue brand, Triple H appointed former NWA world champion Nick Aldis as the general manager of SmackDown. Therefore, following his appointment, fellow superstars from the industry congratulated Aldis and wished him the best for his new role. However, Cody Rhodes’ wife, Brandi Rhodes, had an interesting story to recall.
Brandi Rhodes wrote, “Last time I saw that guy, he hit me with an elbow off the top rope.” This was a callback to All In 2018, where Nick Aldis faced Cody Rhodes for the NWA Heavyweight Championship. During the match, Aldis hit an elbow drop from the top rope, which was meant for Cody. However, Brandi Rhodes got in the middle and was hit with the move instead.
The last time Cody Rhodes and Nick Aldis faced each other, they wrestled at AEW’s All-In pay-per-view. The American Nightmare won the NWA championship that night, defeating Aldis in an incredible match. Therefore, now that both stars are in the same company, fans are wondering if they will face each other again.
Currently, Nick Aldis is in a management role on SmackDown, and Cody Rhodes is a performer on Monday Night Raw. Therefore, the match might not happen anytime soon. However, the match is quite possible, as the former NWA superstar might become a full-time competitor in WWE at some point.

Latest updates about Nick Aldis’ WWE contract
When Nick Aldis started working with WWE as a producer, rumors were that he was working with the company on a trial basis. This meant that he was still a free agent and could wrestle in the Indies. However, now that Aldis is an on-screen talent, Fightful reported that his status has been updated.
Aldis is now officially under a WWE contract and is no longer a free agent. The superstars backstage have also told Fightful that they have nothing but positive feedback for Aldis. He is extremely curious to learn new things and make the most of his opportunity.
Being a veteran in the industry, Nick Aldis is no stranger to wrestling a match in the ring. However, he has never wrestled in a WWE ring. Therefore, looking at the progress the 36-year-old has made, it is just a matter of time before Aldis enters the ring as a competitor.
