Cody Rhodes’ second run in the WWE has been a major success. Ever since his return to the company, Cody has been a popular figure among the WWE Universe. The American Nightmare’s dream has always been about thriving in the industry in which his father gained stardom. However, his decision to come back home involved not only Vince McMahon but also his wife, Brandi Rhodes.
In an interview with Denise Salcedo of Fightful Select, Brandi Rhodes was asked how she reacted when her husband told her he was thinking about returning to the WWE. The former ring announcer felt that she was always a devil in situations revolving around major decisions. In this case, she was surprised that Cody Rhodes didn’t have the conversation about returning earlier.
Cody Rhodes’ wife revealed that he once asked him, “How can you realize your dream when you’re not at the place where your dream is at?” The 40-year-old was in support of this career choice, as emphasized by the question. At last, Cody made his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 to a huge ovation, defeating Seth Rollins in a match.
The American Nightmare married Brandi Rhodes in 2013, while they were both under contract with the WWE. After their departure from the Stamford-based promotion, Cody made a name for himself on the independent wrestling circuit. He competed for companies such as TNA and Ring Of Honor.
Later, along with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, the 38-year-old launched a new wrestling promotion, All Elite Wrestling, in 2019. They had quite a memorable run in the company, and over the years, it has been growing as a major wrestling promotion. The couple ended up leaving the company in early 2022.
Are Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks still friends?
Cody Rhodes played an integral part in the launch of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The 2018 All In pay-per-view saw huge success. Following that, Cody, along with his friends, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, came up with the idea to launch an alternative wrestling promotion to the WWE.
Therefore, with the help of Tony Khan, AEW was formed the next year. All four men involved would serve as Executive Vice Presidents, along with being wrestlers for the company. A huge shock occurred three years later, when the American Nightmare’s contract expired.
Cody Rhodes didn’t renew and ended up returning to the place where he began his career, the WWE. Many fans have since wondered about the second-generation star’s relationship with his co-founders. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported on this and confirmed that the wrestlers were closer than ever.
According to him, the Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes talk regularly. The tag team recently cooperated with Peacock by providing footage of their BTE show for Cody Rhodes’ upcoming documentary. The 38-year-old’s upcoming documentary will show Cody’s journey from leaving WWE to coming back after seven years.
