Well, its must be Monday if there’s such chaos. As soon as Raw went on-air tonight, Cody Rhodes was seen arriving the arena. Momentarily after, he fell victim to a steamroller known as Brock Lesnar. Fresh off his wounds from Backlash, The Beast completely mauled Rhodes backstage. Throwing the former AEW Superstar into whatever came in his way, Lesnar gave no chance to Rhodes to attempt a comeback.
He even drove Cody’s face into the steel shutters. To make things even worse, The Beast sandwiched Rhodes’ left hand with the aid of a trash lid. The look on Lesnar’s face was sickening and had absolutely no regret about his actions. On the other hand, the American Nightmare screamed in utter pain for a few seconds.
Well, that was a great way to start things off tonight. So far, the animosity between these superstars has been a one-sided affair, visibly Brock Lesnar. Fans still await a logical explanation from the 10-time World Champion over why he even attacked Cody Rhodes in the first place on Raw after WrestleMania. However, as the saying goes, Brock Lesnar does whatever Brock Lesnar wants to do, that’s the closest viewers will get in the name of an explanation.
Also, there’s still a segment internally slated between the aforementioned chaotic elements. There’s no word whether any change is coming to that. And, BWE noted on Twitter that Rhodes is expected for a massive backstage segment tonight. It’s expected to close the night with a pep-talk from an alleged big name.
Should Cody Rhodes once again beat Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions?
Without a doubt, The Prodigal Son finds himself in a tough spot this Saturday. Plus, WWE really has a major decision to make on their behalf regarding the winner between Rhodes & Lesnar. They can’t make Dusty’s baby boy lose a match on such a big premium-live-event. Since returning to WWE last year, he’s only pinned once, and that’s against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.
It remains to be seen whether Brock Lesnar adds his name apart from The Tribal Chief. Now, if there’s a plan to continue the ongoing saga between Rhodes & Lesnar past Night of Champions, a tough decision would be required. In that scenario, The Beast Incarnate might simply get the win over Cody and even his score.
Following that, a decisive third match can be carded to cap off their trilogy. However, WWE needs to handle this one with extreme care. They’ll have to find a way to keep Cody Rhodes strong and fresh before his eventual rematch with Roman Reigns. At present, fans are completely behind The American Nightmare, and ensuring that process doesn’t change will be a big task on hands for the creative.
