The Beast landed in Atlanta to feast on his victim. Kicking off this week’s Raw was hometown boy Cody Rhodes. It was not much of a surprise that the place went bonkers for the American Nightmare’s arrival. He then called out Brock Lesnar, who showed up after playing a little cat and mouse game with Rhodes. Just when the latter thought Lesnar would make him wait for later on, Rhodes hugged her mother and was about to leave.
However, the exact next moment, Lesnar’s music hit, but he never came out. When things repeated, Cody decided not to wait any longer and he went backstage to find his opponent. But poor Cody didn’t know that he was going to fall into the trap set by Brock Lesnar. The Beast attacked Rhodes with multiple chair shots to the back. Then, he hit an F5 to the Prodigal Son at ringside, right in front of his mother and sister.
That earth-shattering F5 wasn’t enough for Lesnar. He locked Cody into the devastating Kimura lock. Worth noting is that it was the exact maneuver that injured Cody’s arm recently. Lesnar was in a different mode this week. He continued inflicting physical damage on Rhodes, with the latter’s mother shaking her head in resentment.
After throwing Cody Rhodes back into the ring, Lesnar once again picked up his arm and applied the Kimura Lock. After squeezing enough pain out of Rhodes’ body, Lesnar barked at his face and accepted his challenge for a match. WWE has made the match official for the Biggest Party of the Summer. Lesnar and Rhodes will complete their trilogy at SummerSlam in Detroit next month.
Did WWE announce any stipulation for Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes lll?
As of now, WWE hasn’t added any stipulations to the Lesnar-Cody rubber match. However, it looks like there will be a stipulation to this match. WRKD Wrestling, which is a reliable source, tweeted that a stipulation will indeed be added to their match at SummerSlam. That being said, there are several options the creative can go with.
It could be a No Disqualification match. The WWE reps are reportedly planning something out of the box. The word going around is that a Bullrope match is potentially in the pipeline. Cody’s father Dusty Rhodes made that match famous back in the day.
WWE loves to attach Cody’s name to his father. Therefore, there’s a good chance they actually end up doing this stuff. It’s been well over a decade since a Bullrope match has been contested in WWE. To bring that back in 2023 on such a grand occasion would make perfect sense.
