The Ring General Gunther has been reigning as the dominant Intercontinental Champion for 638+ days. Few matches have been highly predictable due to Gunther’s sheer dominance, but some of his opponents pushed him to his limits. One of those names is Chad Gable, who registered a count-out win over Gunther but failed to capture the championship from him in the latter weeks when he actually looked unstoppable.

The Alpha Academy member wants to avenge his loss by facing the IC Champion at WrestleMania 40. For that matter, he has to run through the Gauntlet tonight on Raw. Gable will be involved in a six-man Gauntlet match to determine Gunther’s opponent for Mania and have his title shot in Philadelphia. While preparing for the huge bout, Chad has taken on X to state how much that match matters to him.

Gable claimed to have been running the gauntlet in his head since that match against Gunther on Raw, September 4, 2024. But now the tears he is willing to wipe out of his child’s face are the tears of joy. Chad states that his path to heaven runs straight through the gauntlet of hell filled with demons from his past. In order to earn his day with destiny and redemption, he intends to rewrite history to make his family and fans proud. A chilling end claimed that this match meant more for Gable.

Chad Gable about the #1 contender Intercontinental title Gauntlet Match on Raw

The former Raw Tag Team Champion posted a hype video for his Gauntlet match and spoke of his excitement. The caption stated that the bout on Monday night will have major implications that are impossible to put into words. Thus, a video has been created to express this opportunity, which takes him to The Grandest Stage of Them All is more than just being there and exceeds the realms of Mania.

WrestleMania 40 match card so far

WWE is continuing their two-night WrestleMania schedule while going to Philadelphia this time. As of now, the only matches announced for WrestleMania 40 are for the major championships, along with a Night 1 main event. The Bloodline’s Roman Reigns and The Rock will face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

That bout will decide the course of action for Night 2’s main event. Reigns and Rhodes will battle for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Rollins will also pull double duty by wrestling in Night 2’s co-main event. Seth will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre.

Rhea Ripley is heading into Mania as the Women’s World Champion to defend it against Becky Lynch. It will be exciting to see on the upcoming Raw whether a few more opponents get added to the match or not. Last but not least, Bayley is vying for Iyo Sky‘s WWE Women’s Championship, possibly on Night 1.
