Chris Jericho is one of the most respected superstars in the industry at the moment. His persistence and creative genius to keep himself relevant even after over 30 years of working are remarkable. Therefore, while talking about his exit from WWE in 2017, Chris Jericho talked about his conversations with Vince McMahon months before WrestleMania 33.

While talking on the Broken Skull Sessions with Stone Cold Steve Austin, Jericho talked about his feud with Kevin Owens from 2017. The two were to have a grudge match for the Universal Championship at Mania 33, which would mark Jericho’s first win as a babyface. He was to drop the title to Brock Lesnar before leaving WWE later in the year.

However, as Goldberg returned to WWE, the plans immediately changed. Kevin Owens was made to drop the title to Goldberg, which set up the match between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar at Mania 33. However, this berated the importance of the Jericho vs. Owens showdown. Instead, it went second on the show, which did not mean anything.

Chris Jericho said that the storyline and the buildup for his match against Kevin Owens were the best on the show. Therefore, he believes to this day that he should have at least been in the opening match of the night if not the main event. Jericho will soon leave for a tour with his band Fozzy. He would later sign with AEW, becoming the first big superstar to jump from WWE to AEW.

AEW was founded in 2019, and one of the biggest signings for the company in its initial days was Chris Jericho. He became the company’s first-ever champion, thus giving the company and the shows a level of authenticity. For the past four years, Jericho has been a constant on the AEW roster. He has been a part of multiple feuds and helped a lot of young superstars get over them.

Therefore, Jericho’s absence from All Out 2023 brought out an interesting fact about the Ocho. This was the first time that Jericho missed a PPV since AEW’s first event. He has been featured on every single PPV since 2019, and fans found it amusing to see Jericho have no match at All Out.

AEW just had their biggest event ever in London, called All In. Jericho lost to Will Ospreay at the show in a spectacular match. Therefore, Jericho took a much-deserved break from work, according to fans’ speculation.
