Ciampa is a very well and accomplished and talented wrestler in the current roster of WWE. He has been wrestling since 2005 and was trained under the great Killer Kowalski. Ciampa’s early brush with WWE was when he appeared as Muhammad Hassan’s Lawyer in WWE, He would then receive a choke slam by Undertaker in a segment on SmackDown. He was signed for a developmental contract with WWE and assigned to OVW, wherein Ciampa showed that he had charisma and an incredible in-ring ability, but was had to stay out of action due to injury for some time, during which he became a manager and showcased his mic skills.

Ciampa was released from the developmental the same year he was assigned and thereafter he competed at the independent circuit, where he was a big name and defeated the likes of AJ Styles and Eddie Edwards. Ciampa major breakthrough came when he became a part of the Ring of Honor and became a 1-time ROH World Television Champion. He wrestled at the ROH from 2011 to 2015 and was signed to WWE in 2015 again and was assigned to NXT Brand. This time he made the most of this opportunity and became a two-time NXT Champion during his time at the brand.

Ciampa has been a 1-time NXT tag team champion

In August 2016, Ciampa had formed a team with Johnny Gargano known as DIY and the two would challenge The Revival for a tag team championship match at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. The match was scheduled to be a two out of three falls match at the event. The first fall was won by The Revival when then pinned Johnny after performing shatter machine on him.

The second fall was won by DIY when both Johnny and Ciampa hit Scott Dawson with a combination of running knee and Superkick. The third fall was also won by the DIY, when both Johnny and Ciampa applied their submissions on Dash wilder and Scott Dawson respectively, making both of them submit simultaneously to win the match.

DIY defended the title on several occasions but ultimately lost them to The Authors at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio. When they failed to win the tag titles at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, Ciampa attacked Gargano, thereby disbanding their team DIY. Thereafter the feuded with each other several times for the NXT Championship. Gargano’s contract with WWE expired in December 2021 and he didn’t choose to renew it as he wanted some time off from wrestling and had to concentrate on raising his new born son.

Ciampa recently gave an interview with SEScoops and talked about the possibility of his Former Tag Team Partner joining the company again. He said that, he is 100 percent sure that Johnny Gargano is going to be wrestling again but is unsure of which promotion Gargano would wrestle again.

“You’re one hundred percent going to see him [Gargano] in a ring again. I don’t know which ring. I think it’s tough to say.”

Ciampa lost the US Championship match against Bobby Lashley on this week’s RAW.
