Phil Brooks, better known as CM Punk, is currently at the center of headlines. After a controversial exit from AEW, it seems that the Straight Edge superstar has turned his sights on a return to the Stamford-based promotion. Furthermore, WWE has seemingly made several teases over the past few weeks, referencing him on multiple occasions.

Recently, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed that the WWE declined CM Punk’s offer to return. While speaking on WOR, he said, “The decision was… he wanted to go there, and the decision was a no. I mean, it can always change. And it was brought up to me that, like, ‘Look, there’s no such thing as no forever when it comes to WWE. But it’s a no for now.”

The final decision comes down to the higher-up executives, such as Vince McMahon, Nick Khan, and Triple H. Moreover, it doesn’t come as a shock given CM Punk’s track record in AEW. Also, the self-proclaimed ‘Best In The World’ will have to mend fences with a few superstars backstage in WWE if he were to return.

Among those wrestlers are Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, who have previously opened up about their real-life heat with the 44-year-old. Needless to say, the coming weeks will prove to be vital in deciding the future of CM Punk. Moreover, it will be interesting to see whether WWE pulls the trigger on the controversial superstar.

Tony Khan reveals that CM Punk backstage scuffle was the most dangerous situation of his life

Following his backstage altercation at All Elite Wrestling on September 2, the company fired CM Punk. Given his animosity backstage with several talents, his controversial departure was always on the cards. Recently, AEW owner Tony Khan spoke about the All In incident, which played a major factor in the termination of Punk.

During an appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show, Khan stated that the backstage scuffle ended up being the most dangerous situation of his life. “Without a doubt. Without a doubt, 100% yes. Yeah, I was scared as hell for a moment there,” he said.

Previously, Tony Khan eluded CM Punk’s actions at All In made him fear for his life. Therefore, it is clear that a second run for the Straight Edge superstar in AEW won’t happen. Currently, he is reportedly pitching for a return to the WWE, with conflicting rumors online about his status.
