Although WWE and UFC never conducted crossover clashes between the athletes of the two promotions, it didn’t stop WWE superstars from stepping into the octagon and vice versa. Over the years, several WWE superstars have given a stab at the UFC, including CM Punk. A recent report sheds light on his actual UFC payout for his disastrous debut match.

After two years of preparation, CM Punk made his official debut at UFC 203 on September 10, 2016. Unfortunately, he lost his debut MMA battle against Mickey Gall via submission in the very first round. Punk barely lasted for 2 minutes and 14 seconds into the match. Amidst the class-action lawsuit against UFC, a report from Bloody Elbow has lifted the curtains on Punk’s actual UFC payout. The former WWE superstar made a whopping $1,042,736 for his lamentable debut match.

Initial reports of that time indicated that the 45-year-old made a sum of $500,000 for his clash against Mickey Gall. However, the currently reported amount is two times his initially disclosed remuneration. It means he received a whopping $7,781 for every second spent in the Octagon. Before finally hanging up his boot, CM Punk stepped into the octagon yet again after a losing effort against Mike Jackson in 2018.

Moreover, this information came to the public’s attention in the wake of the ongoing class-action lawsuit against UFC. Several former MMA fighters came together to file the lawsuit, accusing the company of engaging in shady practices to monopolize the MMA market. The Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals has turned down UFC’s appeal, and a trial will take place next year.

WWE prepared for CM Punk-related questions at the post-show media conference at WWE Fastlane

Since his termination from All Elite Wrestling, CM Punk has been a major topic of discussion in the wrestling world. The Straight Edge superstar is presumably the hottest free agent in professional wrestling right now. His topic, however, wasn’t broached at the post-Fastlane news conference, much to the astonishment of WWE and fans alike.

Fightful Select recently reported from its paywall that WWE readied its roster to answer CM Punk-related questions. However, not a single journalist brought up any questions about the Second City Saint at the media conference. This came as a shocker for the higher-ups, as Triple H specifically prepared to negate the rumors of his expected WWE return.

CM Punk, 45, expresses interest in returning to WWE, though no formal discussions have occurred. Sources suggest WWE is open to his return, with no ill will between the parties. No deal has been confirmed, leaving fans eager for Survivor Series for potential news.
