Despite not being on the show this week, CM Punk dropped a subtle teaser for next Monday. It appears like The Best in the World can’t wait to meet a familiar foe. Punk took to his Instagram handle and posted a story that had emboldened everyone. Chicago’s very own said it’s time Cody Rhodes asked him what he wanted to talk about.

Further, The Second City Saint teased a face-to-face segment with The American Nightmare on next week’s Raw in New Orleans. The fans were already brimming with excitement and wondered why the faceoff couldn’t happen any sooner. However, under Triple H‘s regime, one has learned to be patient. And it might be one of the many reasons why fans are more than hyped for the inevitable Rhodes/Punk promo segment. And, as of writing, WWE has made it official.

It would mark the second time both Punk and Rhodes would be in a single frame on WWE television ever since Punk’s return at Survivor Series. Not to forget, Cody was the one who welcomed Punk back to WWE during the latter’s one-off appearance on SmackDown: Tribute to the Troops. As for Cody, he opened this week’s Raw, and it didn’t take long for Drew McIntyre to emulate what he’s been doing of late.

The Scottish Warrior came down and took Rhodes down memory lane. He reminded everyone how The Prodigal Son was his last opponent before he would return to WWE. Moreover, McIntyre gave Cody his flowers for the work he’s put in and said he’s confident Dusty’s babyboy finishes his story, but only after the Scotsman is done with his.

CM Punk has set his sights on Gunther as well

If getting to trade barbs with Cody Rhodes wasn’t enough for CM Punk, he decided to get one up on Gunther as well. In his second Instagram story for the night, he aimed at the Intercontinental Champion. It was after The Ring General declared himself for the Royal Rumble match.

However, the fans were quick to find a subtle jab in Punk’s latest social media venture. He posted a picture of Gunther and wrote that if what he was hearing was true, then it would not bode well for the other 28 guys in the coveted over-the-top rope showdown.

Man…if what I’m hearing is real…poor 28 other guys.

And some fans immediately caught that reference as being the one about AEW’s Keith Lee. The former NXT North American Champion was the one who expressed concerns over Gunther’s name change when he was about to debut on the main roster.
