The Season Premiere of SmackDown on FOX is shaping up to be one hell of a night. But wait, there’s more. The Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions might have ideas. As it happened, Cody Rhodes noted on X the cr*zy week he’s had as a team with Jey Uso. However, it appears like he’s not done yet and wants to have some more fun.
As a result, he simply teased having an open challenge on tonight’s SmackDown. He did tag Jey Uso about his stance on the matter, and the former Right Hand Man gave the nod by reposting and quoting Cody’s proposal. It’s pretty much obvious that WWE has plans for Rhodes and Uso for the landmark event in Tulsa. The duo already defended their gold on Raw against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
They had a tough outing against the former tag team champions. However, after almost buckling his neck, Cody Rhodes went on with the finisher to retain the titles with Jey. That’s in the past. And one would imagine what these two could bring to the table tonight. After such a grueling week, it’s not the wisest of decisions to throw an open challenge.
Numerous teams on SmackDown can grab the opportunity, and a budding pairing seems ready. Shortly after Cody Rhodes teased the Open Challenge, Grayson Waller came up with a befitting jab. He simply wrote, “Undefeated Yeet,” mocking Jey Uso in the process too. The Aussie Icon has developed a chemistry with Austin Theory in recent weeks, and they could be the ones gunning for gold.
Roman Reigns’ return to highlight a huge night on SmackDown
Surely, the biggest story heading into tonight’s SmackDown is the return of Roman Reigns. After a prolonged hiatus of over two months, he’s back. However, he has a lot of issues to deal with. The Bloodline recently lost an important step as they went down to LA Knight and John Cena at Fastlane. As soon as that happened, Paul Heyman quickly gave Reigns a phone call to inform him that they had a problem now.
Could it be LA Knight? Perhaps. Or maybe John Cena? Fans are eagerly anticipating what’s to come next. Additionally, the blue brand will receive a special appearance from Triple H, adding to the excitement.
Fans have more to anticipate as Carlito returns as a full-time member of the SmackDown roster. Moreover, Pretty Deadly’s in-ring comeback is confirmed as they take on The Brawling Brutes. Finally, after his resounding victory last Saturday, John Cena is eagerly awaiting his next move.
