Cody Rhodes after SmackDown (via- Wrestling Enemies on X)
Cody Rhodes‘ non-wrestling streak finally ended after SmackDown this week. A chaotic main event in Boston saw AJ Styles blindsided by The Judgment Day after the former triumphed over Jimmy Uso. Once the cameras stopped rolling, Cody Rhodes, who didn’t appear on air, made his way out to the TD Garden. He faced Dominik Mysterio in a singles match.
The closing moments saw Dom fall victim to the Cody Cutter, followed up by Cross Rhodes. The two names last collided at Money in the Bank this past July. Of course, last night’s rematch was to send the sold-out Boston crowd home with a smile on their faces. Cody Rhodes was with The Judgment Day for the past few months. It’s high time he finally moved on to something fresh.
Rhodes had a defining moment at this year’s SummerSlam when Brock Lesnar endorsed him. After edging out The Beast in some fashion, Cody eventually earned Lesnar’s respect. The 38-year-old superstar is being prepped for something huge. Well, who knows if he’s that guy the company will trade to SmackDown, as revealed by Adam Pearce on Raw?
At this point, Cody Rhodes will get his rematch against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. After suffering a heartbreaking loss in Los Angeles, The Prodigal Son would be hoping to turn fortunes his way when the former AEW EVP steps foot inside Lincoln Financial Field. However, nothing is certain in regards to Cody dethroning Reigns for the gold in Philadelphia.
Is John Cena going to cross paths with Cody Rhodes?

John Cena, scheduled to appear on WWE programming, will be there until late October. During the same period, Cena is inevitably going to interact with a lot of superstars, potentially including Cody Rhodes. As reported by WRKD Wrestling, WWE is discussing a program between the two babyfaces. To be honest, Cena vs. Cody at this point is a WrestleMania-level feud.
However, given John Cena‘s volatile future with Hollywood commitments, the time might be now or never. No one could predict for how long the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike is going to last. That said, having this marquee showdown between two of the hottest babyfaces of their respective generations is where the money lies. There’s no word on how WWE will eventually get to this rivalry. However, if the company is planning to do so, fans are in for a treat.
