At first, when Cody Rhodes debuted his neck tattoo in 2020, the fan reception was tangible. Eventually, it became a dignified part of his overall presentation. However, to this date, people often wonder how Rhodes initially picked-up the tattoo. To answer the question, his sister, Teil Rhodes, let the cat out of her bag. It was her only who booked a tattoo maker for Cody in Georgia.

The revelation was made during an upcoming Fightful exclusive with Teil Rhodes. For Cody, it’s just not an engraved piece of colorful design on neck. That said, it always has been a subject of paying homage to his late, great father Dusty Rhodes. Unlike his father, Cody’s not an American Dream, instead, he’s a nightmare for all the hardships he’s faced or would counter in his future.

Before the release of his documentary, The American Nightmare – Becoming Cody Rhodes, the 38-year-old detailed more about his tattoo. As for him, only two guys inspired him to get a tattoo of his own. Moreover, Rhodes told that he wanted to represent his brand as proudly and loudly as he possibly could. For sure, the ‘American Nightmare’ tat has become a distinctive attribute of Dusty’s baby boy.

At the time he left AEW and was rumored to sign with WWE, there were some concerns. Those revolved around Vince McMahon possibly asking Rhodes to get rid off his neck tattoo. However, none of those happened and Cody even went onto reveal that Vince never said any negative thing about it. It’s safe to argue that had McMahon forced Cody to cover his hallmark, the world would’ve never known a man who’s hellbent on finishing his story.

Cody Rhodes earned Brock Lesnar’s endorsement at SummerSlam after beating him. Rhodes put a decisive end to his beef with The Beast. Now, the question starts creeping in, what’s next for him? Well, that’s tough. This week on Raw, he had an intense staredown with Seth Rollins. At one point, fans thought they were about to revisit this classic rivalry.

However, The Judgment Day acted as party-crashers and cut their moment off. Worth noting, Seth wasn’t thrilled with Cody during the episode. WWE did succeed in planting seeds for their inevitable match down the road. But, that being saved for the future, Cody is yet to know what he’s doing next. A wild guess could have Drew McIntyre turn heel and go after The American Nightmare.

To a valid argument, McIntyre could highlight how Rhodes’ been the prime focus since his return last year. On the other hand, The Scottish Warrior has consistently been suppressed over his World Title shots. Drew had a solid run as the WWE Champion during the ThunderDome Era. He can cite his tireless efforts to elevate the main-event scene being a WWE homegrown, just to become an afterthought after Rhodes arrived.
