Cody Rhodes lives for his fans. No matter if he’s on the actual show or not, he still finds a way to greet them with immeasurable affection. The exact same can be said for this past Friday night on SmackDown. The American Nightmare was booked in a dark match against Damian Priest. Even after completing the match, he didn’t leave the arena immediately.
Instead, according to some fans in attendance, Rhodes stayed around the ringside area to meet his fans. Some clips even show Rhodes pampering kids and putting a smile on their faces. The Prodigal Son spent over 20 minutes signing autographs and clicking pictures with fans. Moreover, he previously announced that this week’s SmackDown gathered the largest ever crowd for any WWE show in North Carolina’s touring history.
Needless to say, thousands of them only came to see Cody Rhodes. Whenever he is announced for a particular event, a considerable surge in ticket sales is often observed. That speaks volumes about his ever-rising popularity among the WWE Universe. No wonder he always remains the top-2 selling merchandiser on WWE’s official website.
That being said, many fans have a strong opinion of the former AEW EVP. Going by them, Vince McMahon & his company have found their biggest babyface in Cody Rhodes ever since John Cena’s peak run. The creative needs to keep the ship sailing. Cody’s story is still incomplete, and he’s hustling every week to get a step closer.
Who should face Cody Rhodes after Brock Lesnar?

By this year’s SummerSlam, Rhodes would be done with Lesnar. After going at each other for absolutely no reason these past months, they’re going to have their final chapter soon. But the question is, what’s next for Rhodes after The Beast? Well, he could go after Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight Title.
However, that won’t fit his vision of finishing the story. On multiple occasions, he’s made it clear which title he really wants. That being said, there are limited options for him. Either he can get into a solo feud with someone, like he’s doing with Brock Lesnar right now, or he can take a short time off.
As known, The American Nightmare hasn’t been off programming apart from his injury spells. So, a brief vacation would definitely help. That could also increase the urge among fans to catch a glimpse of Rhodes once he returns.
