Cody Rhodes dropped jaws after he became the first major name from AEW to jump into WWE. And for all the good reasons, that decision was possibly the best one of his life. He’s the top babyface in the game right now, setting new records all around. However, just when he decided to say goodbye to his former home, a ludicrous offer was right there on the table for him.

In an exclusive chat with ComicBook, Rhodes recalled that tremendous deal from Tony Khan. Actually, he was offered a complete package to wrestle Sting as the endgame to his then-functional heel run. The crowd turned on Cody during his final months with the company. As a result, he eventually had to turn on them too. Now, a high-profile program with the WCW Icon would’ve done wonders for The American Nightmare.

However, Cody already had his next move figured out by then. That said, after some point, he always wanted to return to WWE and capture the World Title, which eluded his father throughout his career. After having such intentions in mind, Rhodes turned down AEW’s offer and decided to part ways with them. He described being in that place as a conundrum. Either he could’ve wrestled his idol, Sting. Or else, he had the choice to work with his hero being the creative lead, and that’s Triple H.

Rhodes said, “And it’s one of those things, you can wrestle one of your heroes or you can work with one of your heroes and he can be the head of creative (Paul Levesque), you can’t have it all.” But now it’s almost guaranteed that the fans will never get to see Sting vs. Cody Rhodes.

Just days before their clash at SummerSlam, the foes come to Houston this Monday. That being said, WWE has announced that Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar will be under the same roof on Raw. Whenever they’ve been around, calamitous sights have already terrified the viewers. Both superstars have been on a manhunt for each other since Raw after WrestleMania.

In a feud that started for no reason, Rhodes and Lesnar have come down to a decider. As of now, they stand even-steven with a couple of bouts already registered against their names. But now, it’s time to decide who’s the best. For that reason, they’re going to slug it out in Detroit next Saturday. Reports claim that WWE will eventually add a stipulation to their rubber match at SummerSlam.

Quite possibly, this week’s Raw would be the perfect stop to know the ground rules of their fight. Many fans believe that WWE has cooled Cody’s momentum through this feud. For the uninitiated, the company still plans on having Roman Reigns defend his title against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania next year. Until then, it would be an aching task for the creative to keep Rhodes red-hot.
