Cody Rhodes has started to put some respect over Gunther's name after doing dirty in the past. He now wants the Ring General to clash in Europe.

Cody Rhodes is going to main-event WrestleMania this year. No questions about that. However, what took The American Nightmare to receive a hall ticket for closing WWE’s biggest show, was the Royal Rumble. He entered last and won the whole thing. However, that doesn’t mean Cody pulled off a Brock Lesnar from last year’s Rumble edition.

Unlike The Beast, Cody Rhodes actually did numerous eliminations and breathtaking offenses. Stretching enough with their final two, WWE had Gunther and Rhodes in the mix. Just to note, Gunther was the #1 entrant and lasted till the death. To stay in the hunt for Mania, Cody and Gunther resisted a lot.

What drove Rhodes a step further towards The American Dream were those hellacious chops on his chest. And of course, The Ring General is the culprit for that. The reigning Intercontinental Champion made sure that his opponent doesn’t gets an easy pass. And for what it’s worth, Cody has now acknowledged that man. On this week’s After the Bell podcast, Dusty’s baby boy recited what made that physical altercation with Gunther special. Plus, he would love him for a match in Europe.

“I can tell you though, that’s the moment where I felt like I was truly back. It wasn’t the first chop. I believe (it was) a back suplex, and I was able to land on my feet, pop to my feet, and when he turned around, I thought I had him, but he had me with another one of those very flat, stop your motion, those type of chops are very specific. That one that he got me with was where I felt like, ‘I’m back. I don’t know Gunther on a personal level, I’ve made fun of the name in the past. I would love to wrestle him in Europe.”

WrestleMania still got some days to spare. That being said, the next stop on that exciting road is the Elimination Chamber. And for Cody, it’s almost necessary to get in Montreal on February 18. WWE just can’t afford to fumble this. To get that hot-streak going, The American Nightmare has to find ways to compete in Canada.

Let’s say if that happens, then who should he face? Well, Solo Sikoa might be a perfect warm up for Rhodes. The Enforcer knows how to manipulate the joints and crack the bones. Cody just needs to provoke The Street Champion and do some tango with Roman’s bodyguard.

After potentially wrapping up Sami Zayn at Chamber, Reigns will collide someone he’s not too familiar with. Early betting odds reveal Cody Rhodes as the clear-cut favorite to dethrone the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. History will be made when two of the best second generation athletes square off in Los Angeles.
