On this week’s SmackDown, fans witnessed a well-balanced card that featured some great moments. One of which was the main roster debut of Trick Williams, who came to save his best friend, Carmelo Hayes. It was during his surprise appearance that the Miami crowd went bonkers as they sang along to his theme music.
Former NXT Champion, Carmelo Hayes was once again put up against the former United States Champion, Austin Theory. While both men showcased high-caliber in-ring action, it was Melo who came on top. Fumed by his defeat, Theory and his ringside assistance, Grayson Waller began unleashing an assault on Hayes.
It was then that Trick debuted and joined in to help Melo lay waste to their foes. While Theory and Waller ran off tucking their tails, Williams and Melo basked in the ring as the audience chanted the catchphrase, “Whoop that Trick!”
Williams and Hayes have been seen together on NXT competing for the latest Dusty Rhodes Classic Tournament. While their contestation looks strong, a sliver of discontent exists over how Trick’s assaulter has still not been found. Meanwhile, a unique team of Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker has also risen and set their sights on the final. Time will tell who’ll ultimately receive the latest trophy of the Dusty Rhodes Classic.
Reflecting on the surprises during this week’s SmackDown
Familiarity with WWE’s tactics suggests that superstar debuts usually happen on big occasions. However, this week’s SmackDown in Miami, Florida, took a unique turn as not one, or two, but three NXT superstars made surprising debuts. While the arrival of the former NXT North American Champion got the crowd jumping from their seats, there were others as well.
It seems the stars have aligned for the Johnsons. While The Rock recently became a member of the TKO Board of Directors, his daughter Ava Raine became the youngest General Manager in WWE history. She was seen alongside SmackDown General Manager, Nick Aldis as they recorded numbers of SmackDown superstars for the Royal Rumble matches.
Meanwhile, Elektra Lopez made her debut by reuniting with the Emperor of Lucha Libre, Santos Escobar. She not only unleashed a surprise attack on LWO’s Zelina Vega and helped Escobar to gain a win against the veteran, Carlito. Fans are excited as they speculate on the possibilities surrounding the handling of these fresh superstars.
