“I hit a wall”- Dakota Kai said she had no idea how to further build her character while in NXT
Dakota Kai in WWE
Dakota Kai is currently having a great time in the WWE, being a part of the stable DAMAGE CTRL, along with Iyo Sky and the leader Bayley. Dakota Kai, who had left WWE in April of this year and was unaware of what was next for her, has now found her way.
Kai had established herself as a prominent star on the NXT Brand and had won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship with Raquel Rodriguez twice, but their reign wasn’t that long, with their combined reign of only three days.
Dakota Kai is doing a great job as a wrestler as well as doing a great job of portraying a heel. Kai has been recognized for her amazing selling ability and does a decent job on the mic too.
She is now one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions along with Iyo Sky. Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky won the tag team championship by defeating Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah on the September 12th edition of RAW, thereby ending the reign of Aliyah and Rodriguez in just 14 days.

Dakota Kai says she loved her experiences in the NXT
During a recent appearance on Ryan Satin’s Out of Character Podcast, Dakota Kai spoke about her experience of working at NXT. She stated that she had clearly hit a wall during her tenure at the brand and that she had no idea how to develop her persona any further at the brand. Kai stated that she had chances for the NXT Women’s Championship and was in numerous tag teams, which allowed her to work with a variety of individuals, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
“I definitely was at a point where I hit a wall, I guess. I had that character that sort of changed and was dealing with that for a year and seeing where I could take it. But I think I definitely was at a point in NXT where there wasn’t really anything further that I could do,” Kai said. “I’ve had a lot of shots at the NXT Women’s Championship. I was in multiple tag teams. I was with a lot of different people, and I loved all my experiences.”
Dakota Kai has also revealed that she focused on her streaming channel rather than working in indie promotions as streaming is something she loves and finds it relaxing. Kai stated that she returned to the WWE invigorated and with a positive attitude about everything that had occurred rather than stressing about what to do and what not to do.
