The Royal Rumble 2024 will take place next year on January 27. WWE released a statement announcing that the mega-event will return to Tampa Bay, Florida for the first time since 1995. Moreover, Tropicana Field in Saint Petersburg has earned the right to host the January spectacle.

Previously, the same venue organized the Royal Rumble event in 2021. However, due to the ongoing COVID pandemic at the time, the Thunderdome setting took over the show. Currently, Tropicana Field has a maximum capacity of around 43,000. Therefore, fans can expect a huge turnout for the beginning of the road to WrestleMania 40.

Along with the major announcement, the promotion released an early poster showcasing the biggest stars. Among the wrestlers advertised were last year’s winners of the Royal Rumble matches, Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley. Furthermore, fan favorites such as Iyo Sky and LA Knight made their appearances on the banner for the first time in their respective careers. However, Roman Reigns was not in the poster, which led to a whirlwind of speculation.

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is on hiatus at the moment. Roman Reigns defended his title in the main event of Royal Rumble this year against Kevin Owens. Despite that, the post-match segment turned out to be the highlight of the night. Sami Zayn finally broke free from The Bloodline after hitting the Tribal Chief with a steel chair. It led to one of the most thunderous pops of the year.

The Royal Rumble is one of the most anticipated events of the WWE calendar year for fans. More often than not, the two battle royals are full of exciting surprises and returns. Therefore, the expectation will remain the same for next year’s event on January 27.

Despite being almost five months away, speculation has started on early favorites for the Royal Rumble matches. As expected, fans online are rooting for The Megastar, LA Knight, to win the men’s bout. On the other hand, there is not yet an outright favorite for the women’s match, with the likes of Liv Morgan and Becky Lynch being heavily discussed.

An early rumor suggested that the company is planning a rematch between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. Furthermore, the rise of the Ring General, Gunther, automatically puts him among the top favorites to win the Royal Rumble.
