October 10 was one of the most iconic Tuesdays in the professional wrestling industry in recent memory. This was because AEW had a special episode of Dynamite on Tuesday instead of their regular slot on Wednesday. They went head-to-head with NXT, which meant both shows were in a ratings war for the same time slot on TV.

The ratings for both shows are in, and it appears as though NXT has comfortably defeated Dynamite in terms of viewership. It was reported that NXT had 921,000 viewers, while Dynamite could only pull off 609,000 viewers. This meant that NXT had a clear win over Dynamite after both companies went all out to compete against each other.

NXT was full of stars from the past, present, and future. Legends and veterans like The Undertaker, John Cena, and Asuka appeared on the show and helped elevate the talents. Moreover, superstars like Cody Rhodes, LA Knight, Dominik Mysterio, and Rhea Ripley also got into it with the NXT superstars in one way or another.

On the other hand, Dynamite was filled with spectacular matches from the biggest names on the AEW roster. Superstars like Adam Copeland, Bryan Danielson, Christian Cage, MJF, and others were featured on the special edition of the show. The main event was the debut match of Adam Copeland, who defeated Luchasaurus.

NXT does their third highest numbers since 2019 while Dynamite did their lowest numbers since 2021

The October 10th episodes of Dynamite as well as NXT will always be memorable for both companies. For WWE, it will be an iconic one, as superstars like John Cena, The Undertaker, and Cody Rhodes all appeared on the show together for the first time. This fetched them a viewership of 921,000, which was the third-highest-viewed show since NXT’s debut on the USA network.

The only shows that did better numbers than the latest show were the first two shows in September 2021. On the other hand, the October 10 edition of the show didn’t go well with AEW Dynamite, as they only had 609,000 viewers. This was among the lowest numbers the company has had. The last time AEW drew such bad numbers for Dynamite was in October 2021.

Despite the stacked card for Dynamite, the Jacksonville-based promotion could not compete with the WrestleMania-esque card for NXT. Fans enjoyed themselves a lot as the two shows went all in to go head-to-head with their competition. Therefore, professional wrestling as an industry is booming due to the rise of AEW as a serious competition for WWE.
