“I have zero confidence” Dolph Ziggler gets warned that he will get buried by Tony Khan in AEW
Ex-WCW employee Disco Inferno is strictly against the idea of Dolph Ziggler signing with AEW.
Dolph Ziggler and Tony Khan
Dolph Ziggler was irrefutably one of the MVPs of WWE during his tenure with the company. Over the years, he was part of a wide range of storylines, from the Survivor Series 2014 to a feud with Bron Breakker on NXT. Recently, ex-WCW employee Disco Inferno made a bold claim that AEW would bury Ziggler.
Two weeks ago, WWE pulled off one of its biggest talent cuts of the year. It resulted in the release of several well-known superstars, such as Shelton Benjamin, Mustafa Ali, and Dolph Ziggler. Since then, there has been scuttlebutt regarding the possibilities of these superstars, particularly Ziggler, crossing over to the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Speaking on the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, ex-WCW employee Disco Inferno was asked about the possibility of the 43-year-old signing with AEW. Inferno vehemently stated that he has no faith in the creatives of AEW. Instead, he believes that Tony Khan would bury the superstar. He said, “No. I don’t have any confidence in any creative things in AEW…I could see him coming out and wrestling for the International Championship. And like then, you don’t see him for two weeks, that’s what I think they would do with Dolph Ziggler. I have zero confidence in the creative over there.”
He further claimed that Ziggler would be nowhere near the main event scene. Instead, they would put him in mid-card storylines, losing to unpopular wrestlers. Inferno made his point certain that The Showoff would get lost in the stacked roster of AEW due to the inconsistent creative work in AEW.
On the contrary, Eric Bishoff believes that Dolph Ziggler a perfect fit to join AEW
Following Endeavor’s acquisition of WWE, an array of talents faced termination from their contracts. Dolph Ziggler was one of the few names that stuck out discernibly considering his long-standing run with the company. Since then, rumors and speculations have swirled about The Showoff ending up in AEW.
Speaking on the Strictly Business podcast via Fightful Select, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bishoff weighed in on the chances of Ziggler making his jump to AEW. Bishoff said, “Out of the entire list, out of everyone we’ve discussed, if there’s one that I see making that move more than anybody else, it’s Dolph because his brother is there and that would be fun, and that’s probably gonna motivate Dolph more than anything else at this point. He’s gonna pursue what makes him happy.”
He explained that Ziggler would most likely end up with AEW because his brother, Ryan Nemeth, is also a part of the company. He further emphasized that Ziggler has the privilege to choose fun over finance at this juncture and do whatever pleases him. It remains to be seen whether Showoff will join the list of former WWE superstars who later joined AEW.
