CM Punk‘s return was undoubtedly the best moment of 2023, and some may argue it was one of the best in history. He wrestled in his first match after his return at a WWE live event, where he defeated Dominik Mysterio. However, Dom did not take this loss lightly, as he made an audacious claim on social media.
He took to X and shared a picture of his match with Punk, and described himself as the ‘Best In The World’. So even though he lost the match, he didn’t fail to garner the attention of wrestling fans with his comment. Dirty Dom also disrespected Punk by saying he was just another superstar and not on his level.

The two superstars share an intense history, as several years ago, Dom was involved in a highly personal feud between Punk and his father, Rey Mysterio. Both met each other a few weeks ago on Raw when Punk confronted the Judgment Day. The Second City Saint picked up the victory by hitting the GTS on Dom despite Rhea Ripley‘s interference.
As of now, Dom is again looking to win back his NXT North American Title after losing it to Dragon Lee on NXT: Deadline. While Punk has set his target to achieve his ultimate goal: to win the Royal Rumble and main-event WrestleMania. It will be interesting to see how 2024 goes for the two stars.

Rey gave an interview on Keeping It 100 with Konnan and was asked about Punk’s return and his rivalry with him. The Luchador legend immediately said that it always felt like they were connected because of their rivalry in 2010. He further added that the Mysterio family is all grown up, and his return makes the dynamic more interesting.
I was texting Punk back and forth every now and then. We would say ‘hi’ and ‘what’s up?’ Always been, not super close, but connected. Watching Dominik’s career take off, we would constantly shoot each other texts.Rey Mysterio on CM Punk via Keeping it 100
Rey said he would love to revisit their rivalry from 2010. He just signed a new deal with a company, but unfortunately, he is out of action because of an injury he suffered on the episode of SmackDown. It will be interesting to see whether the two veterans cross paths in the foreseeable future.
