Everyone knows that CM Punk is going to be out for a long time. But he still couldn’t catch a break, thanks to Drew McIntyre. The latter is relishing in the fact that ultimately he was the one who injured Punk. Moreover, McIntyre’s now planning to rename his future shock DDT, the maneuver that tore Punk’s tricep, in his honor. While making his entrance for a dark match on SmackDown this week, Drew mocked Punk.
The Scottish Warrior first imitated CM Punk’s iconic “clobbering time” pose and then sought suggestions to rename his future shock DDT. The amusing part is that the fans have also started partaking in these Punk-aimed avenues led by McIntyre. An account told Drew that he should call it a ‘Tricep Breaker’. Needless to say, the work McIntyre’s been doing of late is perfectly suited to his anti-Punk motto.
Recently, he posted a video of himself in a gym, honing his triceps. That was a pretty shrewd jab at CM Punk, who had his WrestleMania dreams splintered, courtesy of a torn tricep. The loathing McIntyre has for Punk has been aptly integrated into Drew’s on-screen persona. On this week’s Raw, McIntyre dropped Punk and even targeted his injured arm.
It felt like a future setup between the two. Albeit, it would take around 6 months for Punk to return; a grudge match against Drew McIntyre seems to be the current plan. As of now, it’s not clear what WWE has planned for The Scotsman at The Showcase of the Immortals this year. He’s heavily teasing being involved in the world title picture, but Cody Rhodes may have a say.
Drew McIntyre is elated over Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania snub
It seems like Drew McIntyre’s obsession with people getting their dreams broken has transcended a normal range. Up until now, he was busy firing the cannons at CM Punk. But the 2-time WWE Champion has now diverted his focus to Cody Rhodes.
Everyone’s cognizant with the ongoing hubbub that stemmed from Dwayne Johnson usurping Cody’s tailor-made story against Roman Reigns. In a befitting response, Drew posted a GIF of Cody Rhodes on his X account. And it was enough to rub salt in the wounds of an already irate fanbase.
However, given the character arc he’s in, McIntyre enjoying Rhodes’ moment thwarted away will only add to his demonic mindset. This upcoming Monday on Raw, things are expected to go down in a big way.
