“Generally, they’re the harshest critics” – Drew McIntyre recalls that time when fans were tired of seeing him up

“Generally, they’re the harshest critics” – Drew McIntyre recalls that time when fans were tired of seeing him up

Drew McIntyre is currently involved in a feud with The Bloodline.

In this modern era of Professional Wrestling you have to keep evolving yourself with something new everytime you show up in front of that audience. Cause this newer generation want entertainment and just pure entertainment, no matter how you present that. It can be with your character work, any in-ring promo or a segment too. If there doesn’t seems something sticky to a character, the audience starts losing their interest into that particular stuff. Now, I know you might be wondering why I’m making a mess outta my talk and why not coming just straight to the point?

Drew McIntyre lost to Lashley at Wrestlemania 37.

Let’s just end this and reveal what I’m trying to indicate about. You all may have been well-aware of that Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley feud during last year’s summer where they faced each other multiple times for the WWE Championship. This rivalry received some criticism from the fans for its predictable and ever-ending nature. Initially, McIntyre lost his WWE Championship match against Lashley who tapped him out after applying a Hurt Lock to retain the title at Wrestlemania 37.

Next they went on to face each other in a triple-threat match including Braun Strowman at the very next PPV, Wrestlemania Backlash where Lashley retained once again. Well, that wasn’t it because both men once again went to a war inside of the Hell in a Cell with stipulation being this time around that if McIntyre loses, he won’t be able to compete in a WWE Championship match until the time Lashley remains the champion.

Speaking about the fans response over this lengthy and pointlessly stretched feud, McIntyre himself revealed that fans were a bit tired of seeing him in the WWE Championship contention from a very long time and they clearly wanted something fresh and new.

When Drew spoke with CBS Sports about this very issue, he admitted that at that point from last year, the fans had seen a lot of himself on TV and remaining in the Championship picture for long also hurt him. But he also praised them for remaining positive about himself as a superstar and said that social media fans are the most harshest ones!

“I remember that particular time. It was amazing that the fans stayed so positive for such a long time and the only way we could gauge it was social media. Generally, they are the harshest critics. So they were positive for such a long time until, I think I had wrestled with Lashley a couple of times”.

Even though it had technically only been maybe two matches, it felt like it’d be going on for a long time. Perhaps we didn’t do as many interesting things as we could and should have done to keep fans invested. I think they were just over that particular storyline. By the time fans were coming back, there was still a bit of a feeling like we’d had a lot of Drew in our face, which we had“.

He was so glad to hear the fans cheering for him once they returned to the arenas.

What’s next for Drew McIntyre in WWE?

Drew McIntyre is one of the toughest and physical superstars in all of WWE.

Drew McIntyre has been away from the World Championship picture ever since the live crowds returned. One of the biggest regrets he has about his WWE Title run was that there was not even a single person to cheer or boo him during that peroid. McIntyre won the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar back at Wrestlemania 36 which was held at the WWE performance centre due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

WWE continued having their shows from the PC right through the summer and they later upgraded it to WWE Thunderdome setup which was a good way to connect with people sitting at home virtually, but still there was no live in- person attendance possible at that very moment. Currently, Drew McIntyre is involved in a feud with The Bloodline. He will team up with RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) to face Roman Reigns and The Usos at Wrestlemania Backlash premium-live-event.

Talking a step further, the Roman Reigns Vs. Drew McIntyre singles feud is being heavily rumoured as the main singles feud in for the coming months in WWE with a huge possibility being McIntyre be the one who could finally dethrone Reigns for either of those two titles.

WWE Clash at the Castle is scheduled to take place in United Kingdom on September 3, which will serve as The Scottish Warrior’s hometown. How cool as a moment would it be for him to win that WWE or the Universal Championship right there in front of a jampacked Principality Stadium with almost 80,000 fans roaring on board.
