Coming out of retirement is a common thing in the world of professional wrestling. Several superstars decide to say goodbye to their careers but cannot stay out for very long. Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley is the latest legend to show signs of returning to the squared ring. D-Von was part of one of the greatest tag teams of all time, The Dudley Boyz.
In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer talked about the 51-year-old veteran. D-Von recently appeared on Impact’s 1000th episode celebration. He teamed up with Bubba Ray Dudley for the first time in seven years. Meltzer reported that this was not a one-off appearance. Moreover, Dudley wishes to continue with Impact while returning to in-ring competition.
The return is also significant, as D-Von has also suffered from various health problems in recent years. He revealed that he also had a stroke in 2020, which could have almost killed him. However, with his wife’s support and proper treatment, the 51-year-old was able to bounce back and wrestle in the ring after years.
Dudley also worked in WWE until very recently as a producer and backstage trainer for the up-and-comers on the WWE PC. His rivalries with The Hardy Boyz, Edge, and Christian are some of the best tag team rivalries in WWE history.
The Dudley Boyz come together for the first time in seven years at Impact 1000
Impact Wrestling recently celebrated its 1000th episode. The show brimmed with action and nostalgic moments from its nearly two-decade history. It featured the likes of Mickie James, Frankie Kazarian, Chris Sabin, and many others. However, the biggest attraction was Team 3D, known to WWE fans as The Dudley Boyz, coming together for a match for the first time in seven years.
From the beginning, the two were advertised for a match, but the organizers did not reveal their opponents. Eventually, it was revealed that their opponents were the Desi Hit Squad. As expected, Bubba Ray and Devon destroyed them in a short match. The match is getting a lot of attention online as the two hit a lot of spots from their peak over 20 years ago.
If the reports are true, this will not be the last time fans see the Hall of Fame tag team join hands in Impact. Therefore, fans from the Attitude Era will look forward to any updates about Team 3D in Impact Wrestling.
