There’s so much happening around Edge. The Hall of Famer had his last WWE match against Sheamus in Toronto. It was later revealed that Edge’s classic against The Celtic Warrior was his final contracted match and that his deal was set to expire by the end of September. Reports speculate that The Rated-R Superstar will become a free agent on October 1st, and he’s free to sign elsewhere. There’s no 90-day non-compete clause since it’s not a release.

Amid all this, WWE seems to have removed Edge from the intro package of SmackDown. Last night’s opening simply did not have the 11-time World Champion in the advertising. Well, that pretty much says it all. Edge, who signed a 3-year deal with WWE back in 2020, has likely departed from the company. Earlier this week, PW Insider reported that the promotion had erased Edge from miscellaneous listings.

The Rated-R superstar hasn’t signed a new contract and is seemingly done with the company. That brings an end to an untamed legacy that the Canadian great created in the Stamford-based promotion. No matter where he decides to go next, he’s going down as one of the greatest names in professional wrestling. Edge holds the record for winning 31 titles in WWE, and that’s something that many could only dream of.

During his latest run, he had some memorable feuds, including with the likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and many more. Although he didn’t win any titles this time around, he would be more than elated for whatever transpired in the past 3.5 years. Even though WWE wanted Edge to have an extension, it seems he’s got some different plans.

Is Edge debuting in AEW this Sunday at WrestleDream?

At first, fans thought he was going to debut at All In, but it didn’t happen. However, per a scoop from Boozer 666, Edge is closer than ever to signing with AEW. Christian being there might be his biggest motivation to do so. The Master Manipulator always wanted to have that one last chance to team up with his lifelong best friend.

Since Captain Charisma recently extended his contract with AEW, there was no chance he would come to WWE. And just like that, for Edge to reunite with Christian, debuting in AEW is seemingly the only thing he could do. This weekend’s WrestleDream pay-per-view is something to keep an eye on.

It falls on the same day as Edge becomes a free agent, and who knows, he might show up at the Climate Pledge Arena. Well, if he does, it would be the biggest signing AEW could’ve done since CM Punk. And for sure, if Edge does sign, he would be an ultimate inspiration to the AEW locker room.
