Edge and Mick Foley recieved second degree burns during infamous WrestleMania spot

Edge
Edge and Mick Foley had a memorable feud which culminated at WrestleMania 22 with Edge winning over Foley.

The remarkable spot came at WrestleMania 22 against Edge giving Foley his “WrestleMania Moment”. Edge and Foley while speaking at WWE Untold had revealed that the two were initially scheduled to collide in a steel cage match but since he wanted to give Foley his WrestleMania Moment so he convinced Vince McMahon to change the match to a hardcore match.

The match at WrestleMania saw everything being used from thumbtacks to Barbed Wire and even flaming tables. Many term it as the best WrestleMania hardcore match. The finish of the match involved The Rated R Superstar putting Foley through a flaming table with a spear. While the spear went flawless, the Rated R Superstar and Mick Foley received second degree burns as the table had no anti flaming gel applied to it.

WWE writer Bruce Prichard had revealed in an interview that Edge had refused to apply the gel to the table as he believed that both wrestlers had applied it on their bodies so it wasn’t required. But, unfortunately during the fight Edge’s fire resistant gel was shrugged off and he was severely burnt. He would later reveal that he did this for Foley’s WrestleMania Moment.

Edge said- “As I’m crawling over to pin Mick, I’m looking at my arm because it’s smoking… and that does something to your brain. When I crawled over, I pulled his shoulder back and put my arm over the top and told him I loved him.”Foley would also acknowledge the fact and said- “With Edge whispering ‘I love you’ in my ear as the three-count was made, I felt this giant weight lifted off my shoulders and I really remember thinking to myself, ‘I did it, I did it. I had my magic WrestleMania moment.”
