Edge shares his views on teaming up with Rey Mysterio for the first time since survivor series 2002

Edge and Rey Mysterio
The Rated R Superstar Edge is one of the greatest male wrestlers ever to have set foot in the Squared Circle. The Ultimate Opportunist has recently said that he wants to make the most of his second run in the WWE and he indeed is doing very well. Edge has tried to fight for the Universal Championship but has failed to win it and deserves a last championship win before retirement. Though he hasn’t won any Championship during his second run in the WWE, he managed to win the 2021 Royal Rumble. Last week on RAW, after his match against Damien Priest, Edge indicated that he may retire next year in the month of August when WWE will tour Canada.
Edge is involved in a rivalry with Judgment Day members Damien Priest, Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley. The feud began when he was ousted from the group, which he had initiated. This Saturday, Edge along with Rey Mysterio will face Finn Balor and Damien Priest at the Clash at the Castle Live event. During an appearance on RAW talk, Edge spoke about reuniting with his former Tag team partner.
He said that first time since Survivor series 2002, him and Rey Mysterio will be a team again and for the first time in 20 years there is something that happens when he and Rey are on the same side, indicating that they make sure to win the bout and are difficult to beat. Edge went on to remark that the connection he has with Rey is unrivalled and that it exists because they love one other and are friends.
“This Saturday for the first time since Survivor Series 2002, me and Rey, we’re gonna be a tag team again. For the first time in 20 years and there is something that happens when he and I are on the same side, there is something that happens when we tag, there is something that happens when we team together. It’s a special chemistry that you can’t manufacture, you can’t buy, it is real and it is there, because we love each other and we are friends”.
Edge and Rey Mysterio had won the Tag Team Championship in 2002

In 2002, The WWE Tag Team Championship tournament was held between October 3rd and October 20th. Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle managed to reach the finals by beating the Los Guerreros, whereas Edge and Rey Mysterio reached the finals by beating Reverend D-Von and Ron Simmons. At No Mercy the final was held in which Benoit and Angle defeated Rey and Edge by Submission and became the inaugural winners of the WWE Tag Team Championship. They held the titles for 18 days and then were defeated by Edge and Rey on November 5th edition of SmackDown. Edge and Rey held the titles for 81 days before losing to Los Guerreros at Survivor Series 2002.
Edge had teamed with Dominik and Rey last year in a six-man tag match against Roman Reigns and the Usos, which they had lost. This will be the first time in 20 years that there will be just the two of us teaming at a live event. The Clash at the Castle Live event will take place at Principality Stadium, Cardiff, Wales on September 3rd.
