Edge recently shocked the world when he announced that he wrestled his last contracted match this past Friday on SmackDown. He defeated his longtime friend Sheamus in an intense match. Afterwards, the Hall of Famer poignantly addressed his hometown crowd in Toronto, saying that he did not know how long he could continue. Recently, Edge appeared on WWE’s talk show, The Bump.
The Rated-R superstar was asked a few questions about his illustrious career. One of them was regarding an opponent he would love to face for the first time. Edge revealed Sami Zayn as one of the wrestlers. Despite being on the same roster for the past three years, the two Canadians have rarely crossed paths on the roster. Furthermore, fans have been waiting for a dream match between Edge and Sami for several years.
The former Bloodline member, along with Kevin Owens and Drew McIntyre, celebrated with the legend after the show went off-air on SmackDown. Edge named Matt Riddle as another potential future opponent as well. These revelations led fans to believe that the former World Champion still wants to go in the ring. Finally, he mentioned Bret Hart as a wrestler from the past he would have definitely loved to have faced as well.
Clearly, the Rated-R superstar has revealed how Bret Hart influenced him during his childhood. He did get the opportunity to be in the same ring with his hero in 2010. During the Nexus vs. WWE bout at SummerSlam, they were on the same side of the team after the newly formed faction attacked them.
