Since the “Extreme Rules” PLE last year, Edge had been off WWE TV for months. The Rated ‘R’ Superstar squared off against Finn Balor in a brutal ‘I Quit’ match. Edge suffered a defeat in the match thanks to the interference by the other Judgment Day members. Beth Phoenix also came out to help his husband, but the faction used her to force Edge to say the words “I quit.” The Judgment Day also took him and Beth out with a ‘ConChairTo’ in a brutalising fashion.
Edge had been out of action since then until his return at the Royal Rumble. The former two-time Rumble winner shared his experience regarding his surprise return. Edge expressed his feelings through an Instagram post, stating “Copeland’s are back and angry” after his fierce performance. He walked down the ramp with fire in his eyes as he was set for retribution against The Judgment Day. He speared all three members right after entering the ring and also eliminated Damien Priest and Finn Balor.
Even after being eliminated, Priest and Balor interfered and eventually eliminated Edge from the match as well. After that, while going back, Edge was attacking the Judgment Day members before Rhea Ripley attacked him from behind. But then Beth Phoenix also made her return to even the odds, and she speared Ripley. Beth came to her husband’s aid, seeking retribution, and made a statement to The Judgment Day. It was a great moment as Edge made his surprise entrance in the Rumble for the third time in his career.

Reportedly, Edge could be closing in on his retirement after a triumphant return at the Royal Rumble back in 2020. WWE might have huge plans for the Rated “R” Superstar prior to his retirement from professional wrestling. After the events of the Royal Rumble 2023, Edge might be wrestling Finn Balor at WrestleMania to end his rivalry with The Judgment Day. Edge was rumored to take on Balor inside Hell in a Cell at the Royal Rumble itself. However, reportedly, the match got pushed forward, possibly to the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Edge might be facing Balor at WrestleMania to finish what he started and end his long-term feud with The Judgment Day. And as per reports, the match might be taking place inside Hell in a Cell, featuring the “Demon” persona of Balor. Considering what happened during the men’s Rumble match, Edge might also wrestle before the show of shows. Edge could possibly team up with Beth to take on the team of Ripley and Balor just before WrestleMania in a mixed tag team match.
Ever since getting kicked out of his own faction last year, Edge has been seeking retribution from The Judgment Day. The faction has been more dominant on Raw as well after betraying Edge. Triple H and other WWE creatives have shown trust in the group by putting them in notable TV segments. However, the Judgment Day story could very well end with the match between Edge and Balor at WrestleMania.
