AEW, in the opinion of a WWE veteran, is nothing more than a "well-funded hobby" and isn't making a significant impact on the wrestling business.

Industry veterans have their opinions on how AEW operates in the world of pro wrestling. Being a relatively new company, AEW has always been subject to criticism. Even after more than four years of existence and running, people still do not want to consider it a solid option for wrestlers. WWE alumni Eric Bischoff recently gave his opinion on the Tony Khan-owned company.

Eric Bischoff believes that AEW cannot be considered as alternative to WWE. Bischoff feels that the company is a rich man’s passion and is far from being a wrestling giant. Moreover, the WCW head honcho believes the company does not have a long life, and will collapse soon like multiple other companies that experienced the same fate. He spoke about various other aspects of the company.

While speaking on Strictly Business with Eric Bischoff, the WWE veteran said that AEW is not at all contributing to the industry in any way. He calls it a “well-funded hobby” for Tony Khan. The AEW President, being the son of a billionaire businessman, does not have to worry about money. Therefore, Bischoff thinks that Tony has no accountability for how he is spending his money.

“It’s a really, really, really well-funded hobby. And that’s not a negative. […] It’s not a “do or die” situation for Tony Khan. This is his passion. AEW isn’t contributing. AEW is taking advantage of the success of WWE,” he said. Bischoff believes that Tony Khan’s promotion continues to exist in the industry because of WWE.

This was not the first time that Eric Bischoff has spoken out against Tony Khan and AEW. There have been many exchanges between the WWE Hall of Famer and the owner of AEW. However, it looks like Bischoff does not hold any grudges and spit out facts that many find offensive. On the other hand, Tony Khan has already announced that they will never sign Bischoff to work in any capacity.

After almost five years of having the biggest independent event in pro-wrestling history, The Elite has set out to test its limits once again. Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, and The Young Bucks played a crucial role in the formation of a realistic alternative to WWE after almost two decades. On ther other hand, signing talents like CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Sting, and Jay White has been very beneficial for the company as well.

Financially, AEW has been consistently performing well with its pay-per-view for the past couple of years. Therefore, the company has now decided to take the next step and go for a stadium show in Europe. AEW has announced that Wembley Stadium, London, will be hosting All In in August 2023. If the sales as of now are to be believed, this will be the largest non-WWE show ever.
