Former United States Champion Austin Theory is a popular young talent in WWE. He has been a significant heel in the company and has been working on the SmackDown brand. Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff suggested that WWE should take Theory off television and give him a break.
While speaking on the 83 Weeks Podcast, Bischoff suggested that WWE should keep Austin Theory off television. He added that during this time, they can easily experiment with different gimmicks and personas for the 26-year-old superstar. It can help the company find out what suits him the best. Moreover, he went on to say that the WWE Universe is not interested in seeing Theory with his current persona.

I’d probably take him off the air until I figured out what I really wanted to do with him, even if it took a couple of months of character work and exploration and trying different things and bring him back. Because the audience is still kind of resisting him just a bit.Eric Bischoff on Austin Theory
Moreover, Eric Bischoff shed light on the current state of Theory among the fans. He said that fans are getting bored of the current gimmick of the former United States Champion. He lost his United States Championship to Rey Mysterio on SmackDown in 2023. Since then there have been no memorable stints for the 26-year-old superstar.
Currently, he is involved in a tag team alongside Grayson Waller. It looks though that WWE is planning for a potential breakup between the two. This might lead to a face-turn of Theory. At WrestleMania 39, the 26-year-old defeated John Cena, which marked the biggest win of his career. However, since then, he has not had any significant roles in any major storylines.

In an interview with the West Sport, Theory stated that when The Rock returned on SmackDown, he was doing his own thing. However, the Great One decided to show up against Theory because he wanted to get popular again. Austin went on to claim full responsibility for the current popularity of The Rock in WWE.
I was out there with Pat McAfee, doing my own thing, but The Rock came out because The Rock wants to be popular again, For me, it was just another day at work, you know? But for The Rock, look what it's done for him.Austin Theory on The Rock
Despite this claims, he has been outspoken a lot lately. Recently, he was brutally destroyed by Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes at the Elimination Chamber for his outspoken behavior. Besides, there is a lot of potential in theory that can be utilized in the future. It is going to be interesting to see his role on the road to WrestleMania heading forward.
