It’s probably game over for CM Punk in AEW. Punk hasn’t appeared in the promotion since the backstage brawl involving him, his friend Ace Steel, and AEW EVPs Young Bucks and Kenny Omega following the All Out Media Scrum. Everyone involved in the brawl is back on AEW TV, except Punk and Ace Steel.

CM Punk was also removed from the cover of the AEW video game recently, which almost confirms his exit from the company. Although there is no official word on his exit or return, the chances of a return are extremely slim.

Punk has also been dealing with an injury involving a muscle tear in his arm. His first appearance since the backstage altercation was at the Cage Fury Fighting Championships, where he did some commentating. Punk was also rumored to be returning to the WWE, which he left in 2014 on a bitter note.

In a recent interview with Steve Fall of WrestlingNewsCo, Eric Bischoff was asked if CM Punk would join the WWE. Punk, according to Bischoff, was a figure who stood up to Vince McMahon before leaving. He claimed that he had a rebellious character that the ordinary American admires, which Tony Khan exploited. According to Bischoff, CM Punk is unlikely to work with the company again.

“I don’t think it would be. I think CM Punk sh*t the bed. When Tony Khan brought CM Punk into AEW, he still had that mystique, the pipe bomb mystique…… So, Punk had this mystique and still had his fan base and Tony Khan was able to take advantage of that,”

While Eric Bischoff feels CM Punk might not return to WWE, Teddy Long states that Triple H and CM Punk are grown men and can settle their differences. During a recent interview with Wrestling Inc., Long said that ‘The Game’ would give CM Punk consideration if he could make money off him. Long stated that he believes that if WWE handles CM Punk well and is content with the idea that is being presented to him, then things will undoubtedly turn out well.

“These are two grown men, and I think that they can sit down and they can talk and they can settle their differences……I think he just wants to be treated right, and whatever angle or push they’re going to give him, he just wants to have them do it right (…) I think they could bury the hatchet, and I think it would work.”

CM Punk’s last appearance in WWE was in the 2014 Royal Rumble match. He left the company because of creative issues and not getting a chance to headline WrestleMania. Punk also expressed discontent at not getting the desired pay. One of the primary reasons he left WWE was because of health issues.
